This restaurant was off the main street. We were looking for a place to eat, and a lot of places were closed. We were lucky to find this place open. My wife and two kids tried it out, and it was great! The service was fantastic, the food delicious, and the ambiance felt very cozy. Loved it!

We wanted to go to the one across the road. But it being closed... we took a punt.. Nice surprise. Great interior. Intimate. Very good pasta small menu but enough to make your choice difficult. Nice range of small plates and mixed platter offerings. Decent salads. The artichokes were still warm when we arrived. The razor clams fresh. We asked... More

It is another restaurant located in an inside lane of Cannaregio area. The unlit lane appears rather shady because of narrow lanes and poor lighting. This restaurant displays the menu outside which is helpful. We ordered seafood risotto which costs 30 euros for two.You have to order for two. They serve you good portion in individual plates and you can... More

This little restaurant is located on a back street from the main road, and is a great place to get away from the main stream tourist spots. The atmosphere is perfect for a dinner with friends or a romantic date. The service was the best in Venice! The waiter was friendly and sociable. The food was delicious! The gnocchi with... More

Intended to be a quirky, artisan kind of a restaurant but basically you would be hard pushed to swing a cat in the place. The food was average at best and the service quite haphazard, but what made us get up and leave earlier than intended was the sight of a cockroach climbing the central pillar. The appearance of the cockroach... More

This is away from the main street. We wanted to order something else but the waiter recommended the mixed seafood platter - which was absolutely fantastic. We also ordered sliced beef steak which was very nice as well. Overall the food was marvellous and the service was good. We were quite surprised to find the restaurant wasn't that full. Highly... This restaurant hides away in a small alley just off the main street. We saw a few locals having lunch and tought it is a good sign. We had a very good lunch. We had the tomato and brinjal penne pasta as well as a mushroom tigiatelli. Rounded off by a nice graffe of white wine. It was simply delicious.... More

Had 2 course dinner with bottle of chianti. Salde al saor good if you like pickled sardines and fish soup delicious but too salty. Mushroom pasta excellent and anchovy pasta OK but far too salty. We appreciated complimentary bruschetta and limoncello and biscotti. €92 bill.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
