Recommended and had a lovely feel about it. Homely and local. Quite small but we ate earlish (6) so no issues with a table. Had 2 pizzas, a portion of chips, a beer and bottle of water. Free breadsticks on the table (in paper covers)...which was a nice touch and very nice ones too! Bill came to $33 with service taxMore

The best place for cheap, authentic and delicious food in Venice. Came for dinner and for lunch, with such variety we had to come back! Drinks are also cheap with a big variety.

After hours of flight delays, we arrived in Venice after 18 hours of continuous travel from Detroit. We found our lodgings (Ca' San Giorgio, see separate review), dumped our stuff, and jet-lagged and starving we sought the nearest eatery that didn't demand reservations. A complete...random pull,we dropped in to Ai Bari, presided over by the ebullient Simoné. We ordered up a cold litre of excellent Vino della Casa Frizzante, a caprese salad, pepperoni pizza, and a plate of pasta with mussels and clams. Even though by that point we would have eaten our leather carry-on bag, everything tasted AMAZING. The pasta sauce was simple, savory and the seafood fresh. The fresh buffalo mozzerella in the salad and on the pizza was the best we'd ever had. Simoné treated us to a couple rounds of complimentary limoncello to round things out, and the tab was very reasonable (€ 51, which included a second litre of vino). We managed to get back to Ca San Giorgio just before our food comas set in. We then had a week of excellent meals in Venice, and on our last night decided to see how much our memory of the food quality at Ai Bari was colored by jet-lagged starvation, and dropped in for our last dinner in town. And I'm happy to report that the food still competed with the best we had in Venezia. And Simoné even remembered us and treated us like regulars. It was a fine book-ending of a great visit!More

It is a very simple place with no particular decoration but I had a tasty meal for a reasonable price. The Spaghetti al nero di seppia was really good.

Five different meals, all delicious, and at very reasonable prices. My father at 93 years old wants to go back before we leave Venice - which is tomorrow!!

Very bad service and dirty as well. If you don't buy what they want, they get upset, opposite is a much more helpful and friendly place

We were really hungry and saw this place on TA. It was busy outside with locals but we were the only folks inside. My wife ordered a Baccallla or similar with Polenta and I ordered carbonara. Judging by reviews here should have ordered pizza. Hers...was a chopped fish mayonnaise and mine was a spaghetti scrambled egg. to be honest the spaghetti was a little more cooked than I like it. The wine was ok and the owner in the chefs whites seemed friendly enough. Not spaghetti like momma used to make but hey ho.More

The food was ok and cheap, the people were very nice and attentive to our needs. The wine was also pretty good. The chef, at the end, came to our table and greeted us which also made the experience even better. They charge 1.5€ per...person just for sitting (it is called coperto if I am not mistaken). Good overall experience.More

We were headed to a place down the street for dinner which was closed so we stopped in here. So glad we did! It’s a small quaint shop where the owner makes the pizzas like he has been for 30 years. The brick oven pizza...is the BEST. Give it a try next time you’re in Venice.More

We came looking for another restaurant which was full and stumbled on this little gem instead. Lots of Italians using the restaurant and we soon found out why. It was rustic and down to earth, the food was terrific we had lasagne calzone fries and...tiramisu all amazingly tasty. All the food was cooked fresh while we were there and you could watch the chef cook. Service was fab and freindly as well. The chef was the owner and was very helpful. Would definitely recommend this little gem.More

The food here is amazing! Great prices and very good authentic food. The pizza and pasta is among the best we had in the country, and we ate all over Italy. We went back a second time when we were in the area because the...food was so good. Service was slow, but worth the wait. Great prices as well.More
