It's a really simple concept. At a hole in the wall a quite talented chef throws some seafood into a frier and a few seconds later you have the finest freshest cone of amazing food. Nowhere to sit down. No high pretence of service. Just the best fried seafood in Venice. You don't need to spend any more than €5... More

Stayed in Venice for 4 days and spent all day, every day, walking around and sampling the delicious seafood, pizza and gelato. This was by far the best/freshest seafood (especially the shrimp) I've ever had, as it's cooked to order. At €5 for a sampler platter, it was an absolute steal. Second best calamari I've ever had. The fried polenta... More

It can be hard to find this tiny little gem of a food counter / window in the San Palo neighborhood of Campiello dei Meloni. But it is worth the effort. The food is very well priced. They serve fried seafood in take away cones. The polenta is also worth trying. This is an excellent lunch stop while exploring the... More

When we got to Venice, the owner of our apartment told us that she gets her food from here. It's where the locals go. So we have been here a couple of times during our stay. The calamari was freshly cooked. Just so gorgeous!

BEST Polenta ever (taste like porridge, what is it man?!) AMAZEBALLS. Grilled cuttlefish was crazy. The fried chicken ball thingy was a disappointment tho. Went back twice just for it. Really affordable price too. REALLY LOVE IT!!

If you are lucky enough to receive your order fresh out of the fryer while it is hot, you will be impressed. Unfortunately, our order was not served hot (it had been sitting a while) so we were not.

Delicious and fresh seafood - perfect to snack on while strolling in the streets of Venice. This is street food that you would see on an episode of Masterchef!! So if you walk past this place, be sure to get a bite to eat and don't miss out!

Perfect qucik "fast food" option near Rialto bridge, you can get fried calamari, prawns, fish, meatballs... all fresh and good. If you are looking for quick bite for good price, this is the place.

I purchased a few items from the window for take away. They weren't too bad but nothing to rave about either. I got squid and my husband a variation on crumbed meat balls (similar to arancini ). There didn't appear to be too many options but you may be able to order off another menu that they can make fresh... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
