In a city I paid where I paid $26 for a beer and Aperol Spritz (I admit, I was paying for the view at San Marco), this restaurant was a wonderful break! The pizza is amazing, and the owner remembered us on our 2nd visit, and greeted us as friends with a glass of wine and conversation! Slightly off the... More

We stopped here because it was right around the corner from the Hotel Arlecchino, plus the tables looked inviting with large canopies and a to-die for view of the canal. We had just arrived in Venice and wanted to try the pizza. So glad we did. It was the best pizza of our 5-days in Venice! The owner Carlo was... More

Close to the Hotel Olimpia, this canal side restaurant offered good food and good service. It was the perfect start to our afternoon in Venice.

We ate here 3 times in our 9 day stay in Venice. Wish we had found it sooner as definitely the best restaurant we found. Staff were amazing, friendly, fun and very helpful. The owner was there every night too and welcomed people in rather than shouting for your business as you passed, which a lot of restaurants do in... More

We ate in this restaurant twice on our recent stay in Venice since it was just around the corner from our hotel. Both times we were very impressed with everything. Friendly service and delicious food! Great location for watching both the canal and the people walking along the sidewalk. This restaurant definitely was one of the highlights of our trip!

After walking around the city my husband I decided to have a dinner date here.Very nice view and atmosphere while dining in the canal side of the restaurant. The city self is very known to have full of tourist so expect that the street of the restaurant is busy. But I don't mind it since the food and the surroundings was... More

My friend and I were only in Venice for a day. After walking for a while we decided to stop for food at Rio Novo. I ordered the Ravioli with cream&tomato sauce while my friend ordered the pasta with pesto. We also ordered garlic bread and two glasses of Sauvignon Blanc. After tasting the wine, we weren't impressed and so... More

The food and location are amazing (the salmon fettuccini is their specialty and an absolute must), but my husband and I returned twice as the staff were wonderful, helpful, funny and charming (and yes....we may have also gone back for the salmon fettuccine 😎). Great location near Piazza Roma.

This was an easy walk from our hotel and sits beside a busy but picturesque canal. The food is remarkable and reasonably priced. We stopped for lunch and I had gnocchi while my wife had clams. The staff were extremely friendly and cheerful. Late the next evening, exhausted from walking the island, we walked by and the staff smiled and... More

The waiting staff were friendly and helpful, and the location is stunning with tables right next to the canal, however the food was very average, the kind I feel I could cook at home myself.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
