This osteria is located in an area of Venice frequented by a mix of locals, students and tourists and the clientele reflect this. It has a great atmosphere and good prices. A very good place to sit and relax over a glass of wine or an Aperol Spritz. There is outside seating. The staff are efficient and friendly.

Awesome little bar we stumbled on when looking for a drink while we waited for our dinner reservation. Delicious spritz and expansive, cheap drinks menu. Great vibe and good music.

This many locals can't be wrong! This happenin' little spot fills up quickly on Wednesday jazz nights (the only time I've been so far). Standing room only for sweet live jazz and an even sweeter selection of draft and bottled beers. If you don't find something you enjoy drinking here, you're simply not thirsty. The young lady on duty behind... More

I returned to this bar with fond memories from several years ago. It was ever bit as good as it was back then. Very relaxed but busy with locals, students, older people and young too. There is jazz on a Wednesday evening too.

We stumbled across this place after a wonderful dinner out...just right for a late night Spritz. Charming barman, cosy tables or settees, and a chess table! Great music - live on a Wednesday night.

Stumbled across this little bar in San Croce and loved it. Very reasonable prices for good variety of drinks. Good small bites for snacking. Great atmosphere of local young people. Doesn't open until 5pm and standing room only very soon as it is small. This was our go to place for before dinner drinks on many occasions!

Found this bar in a little side street off the square in Santa Croce. Unpretentious & friendly. Cocktails same price if not cheaper than UK, good selection of beers and wines. Worth a look if you are local, enjoy a few drinks and move on for a meal later.

If you like jazz, chances are high that it will be playing on Wednesdays. Drinks are good, prices are accessible, public is young, owners are friendly.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
