Great restaurant

We enjoyed our dinner at the Fiaschetteria. The atmosphere was relaxing, the food top notch and the staff really knowledgeable. We got the babe spider crab and Venetian liver. Delicious.

Food is cold and lower average, my duck was like it died 20 years ago and pasta was overcooked and tasteless. Waiter was bored and unfriendly. Price is expensive for what it is. Will never go back!

Our hotel booked a table for us for dinner on our first night in Venice. This was a mistake as we realised soon after arriving that the lack of atmosphere and poor and arrogant service were not what we were looking for. We decided to order only a first course initially, so we could finish our meal elsewhere if our... More

Sat down at 7:30 for a dinner and left a little after 11:00 stuffed and very impressed. Spider Crab in its own shell was excellent as was the Scampi Ca' d'Oro Style on soft polenta as our Antipasti. Primi of Black noodles with lobster sauce was our hostess's choice and an excellent one it was along with Risotto with gobies... More

We both had a good first and second course. The restaurant has a quite fancy decoration and the service is equally in the same way. The service was good and discreet. I would gladly talk about the prices but it was my single meal in Venice.

On a recent trip to Venice, we celebrated my birthday at this charming and cozy restaurant in Cannaregio. Fiaschetteria Toscana was recommended to us by a leading authority on italian cuisine whose family lived in Venice for many years. Our visit far exceeded my expectations and it was a very special and unforgettable evening. As we were a large party,... More

By far the best food we had in Venice. And best service we had in Venice. Amazing soft shell crabs! Wasn't crowded at lunch time, so reservation isn't necessary.

We had discovered this restaurant on our last visit to the City a few years ago, and on this recent stay in Venice, we were again eager to partake of its memorably delicious and marvellously attractive food. So we booked a table for lunch and were not disappointed: the usual exuberant welcome from a tuxedoed mâitre d’, the various fresh... More

We did not make reservations for my birthday dinner, and Frascatera Toscana was recommended to us as an upscale local restaurant. I would not go back, and I would recommend avoiding this restaurant. The restaurant was filled with tourists. The service was prompt, polite, and friendly, and the wine was good. But the “good” stopped there. We started with deep... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
