I arrived at 10 to be told by the owner they were closing the kitchen soon, but they could accommodate me. I said ok if not convenient could they suggest anywhere else, the restaurant was about to be empty other than me, but he made...a fuss and insisted I sat down. The waiter then tried to make me have the special which I didn't want. I asked for mushroom carbonara, not on the menu. He was not friendly at all, told me that was all I was having several times, virtually standing over me looking at me at one point. I ate up, asked for bill, it took ages and then it came, twice as much as I paid last night for pasta dish at close by similar place. It turned into a row and the owner who had been charming until then turned offensive saying how expensive his mushrooms were!! and they can't be compared to those out of a tin!!?? He then turned sarcastic when I said the service had not been great from the waiter. They knocked 2 euros off, how kind, then another one. Like other comments, it was recommended by hotel and they rip you off. Completely spoiled my last night in beautiful Venice.More

This was a restaurant recommended by the Carlton the Grand Canale where we stayed for a night. The concierge recommended this family owned restaurant as an excellent local Trattoria and we took his advice. We found Roberto the owner and son of the founding owner...so felt we would be in good hands. Things started off very well, with attentive service and some nice dishes and wine. The only problem is when we got the bill, with no separate breakdown of the food eaten, we only knew the cost of the bottle of wine drunk. We paid the bill but felt that this restaurant had taken advantage of us and the fact that we were recommended only served to facilitate what we feel was an over inflated bill for food and drink consumed. We only had starters and a main but it seemed because the owner had taken the time with us to help select the food that this gave him the green light to over charge us. On my reckoning this bill was at least 30-40% over priced for what we had. In summary, always be weary of a recommendation from a good hotel because it automatically flags up to the restaurant that this is' rich pickings day'. Im all for having good quality food and service but not when you don't actually know what you are paying for.More

We were looking for a nice lunch in Venice but we've had the wrong choice. The food was not that good, small portions and badly prepared. Prices not fair. Beyond the food, that was not that good, unfortunately our choice of wine was the wrong...one. A very simple Valpolicella Classico and quite expensive actually. Waiters were very unfriendly. They denied giving us the wifi password eventhough the restaurant says it's free. The person who seems to be the manager or the owner was even more unfriendly than the waiters when we complained about the unbelievable 12 per cent service charged. Tourists please avoid this restaurant. It seems they don't like tourists. They forget they depends on them.More

Worst experience in all of Italy!! The restaurant was the only uncrowded one in the area (yes, we should have realized then), food looked okay, but was flavorless (still not sure how they managed that), and small portions. Throughout the meal, the waiter repeated over...& over & over & over again that the tip was not included. When asked about the added service charge, he became very angry & shouted "TIP NOT INCLUDED!!!". We spoke to over a dozen other people, who had the same exact experience: sub-par food & a very angry waiter repeatedly shouting, "TIP NOT INCLUDED", sometimes including pounding the table for emphasis. Go to the more crowded restaurants nearby - there are reasons why this one stays empty!!More

We had our meal of our 3 nights in Venice at this family owned restaurant. We had the lasagna, gnocchi with lamb sauce and tagliatelle with meat sauce. All of our meals were delicious. It’s tucked in the corner of a plaza and maybe that...is why more people didn’t discover it.More

The food was excellent - we went with many of the recommendations of the staff including most of which was local and seasonal sourced. The owners (Vincento, MIkela, Roberto, and Lucia) were just like an extended family and I would highly recommend the gnhocci and...other handmade pastas.More

Stopped in as a recommendation from our Hotel, and we were so pleasantly surprised!!! The mom, dad, son, and family friend that served us were so warm and welcoming that we felt like part of the family. The mom and pop feel, the homemade Italian...food, and the constant service to our needs was what made this the best experience we could’ve ever asked for! The linguini with crab was excellent, caprese salad, mussels, spaghetti carbonara, gnocchi, were some of the dishes we had, no one was disappointed, we all enjoyed our choices and recommendations by their son Roberto! I took a photo of them so you can see just how lovely they are! The fresh food right in front of our eyes, tomatoes and basil used in our dishes were right under our noses!!More

We only had one day in Venice and found this great place. My husband is happy if he can get beer and chicken wings but he was taking pictures of his soft shell crabs and baby artichokes. On the recommendation of our waiter I had...the lasagne. The pasta melted in my mouth and it was not heavy on the cheese a sauce like it is in North America. So good. We found that some tourists expected their meals on the table very quickly. We were very happy to sit back and sip wine to take in the experience. If we ever get to Venice again this will be a place we will return to.More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Not sure of the hours but we stumbled upon them fairly late and they were open .... at least 11. I’m sure time of year is a factor as well though ....
