You get a main course, a drink and a coffee for cheap 12 Euros - that's really cheap for a place that does food as good as Bar Puppa. Locals seem to come in for a quick snack, take away and wine which is probably a good sign.

If you want delicious, authentic food, served in the most chilled out intimate venue possible, then hit up bar Puppa. The owner Masud is super nice and friendly, great English speaking too, which helped, as quite frankly, my Italian is terrible. I myself had the clam/mussel/giant prawn spaghetti which was quite literally the nicest pasta dish I've ever eaten. My... More

Not really the first impression I was expecting from previous reviews. Food was ok but nothing worth of going out to their location.

There we had our last meal in Venice - amazing risotto with shrimps and zuccini with two spritz and café/tea. All for only 24 eur. I found the atmosphere really great, the place very cosy and the food delicious. If in Venice, coming back.

We went here because of the good tripadvisor Rating! We were not disappointed by this cute little bar. Very friendly employers and really low prices for venice! Try the hot chocolate ! Totally would come back here :)

Already been twice, Masoud and his staff make great Campari or Aperol spritzers. One evening we had a risotto for 2- scampi and zucchini, it was excellent! The welcome is warm and both food and drinks great value! Little gem in the Cannergio area.

This restaurant isn't in an obvious place but is worth a visit. The staff were fantastic and taught us about Venice culture and history and were happy to answer any questions we had. As we were there for a late lunch, not all of their menu was available but their spaghetti dishes were incredible, the best pasta I had in... More

Used to stop off here for a prosecco on the way back to our b&b. Lovely quaint place with small tapas nibbles as well as full menu...can be a bit crowded but is truly away from all tourists hotspot. Always greeted with a warm welcome would highly recommend

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
