Good wine in a friendly atmosphere

Great little bar with a very friendly owner who serves good wines and has a kind word for everyone. He let us taste dolci and salati. Perfect place to rest your feet after crossing one million bridges in Venice.

The personnel is extraordinary. The cappuccino and the hot chocolat are great. But they are pretty short on eating options.

So much hype and no. 1 ranking brought us here but apart from friendly servers and good (NOT truely out of this world and I'll never forget this place) snacks and coffee, I don't get the hype at all. Maybe tourist are eager to hand out merit after one disappointment after another in Venice.

Two bottles of delicious red wine (recommended by our host), lots of fresh bread and beautiful cheese all for a very reasonable price. We have a lovely night here. The hot chocolate was awesome as well.

Rafael is AMAZING! His service is outstanding! His food is wonderful & his vino was the best that we've had during our week stay in Italy! This bar is exactly how we imagined Italy to be!

Small, tiny, soo nice. Amazing that in the world of business, money and hectical times you can find a sweet place like this. My children and I have been here already before it was restored and will come back whenever we are in Venice

Had read the other reviews and dropped in for a pre-dinner drink. Ended up devouring a delicious selection of meats and cheeses with a glass or two of prosecco. Friendly staff and customers and time flew by. Well worth a visit.

A great little place to have some tapas and a nice glass of wine followed by a expresso and to top all that off you're served by the great Rafael the proprietor the friendliest Brazilian person you will find in Venezia. A must in your trip to Venezia

Oh my god! The hot chocolate here is amazingly delicious!! The consistency is like mousse it's thick and perfect! Not syrupy which is what I find with a lot of restaurants that say they have great hot chocolates! The barrister is friendly and an expert on the coffee machine. The coffee here is incredible too! If you're in Venice you... More

Found this while walking around and what a great surprise! First of all he was Brazilian, which is great as my wife is Brazilian. He was very friendly, the food was lovely and fantastic value for money! Couldn't recommend more!

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
