We went at noon and were the first guests to arrive before the noon rush. The service was great and the food was excellence. We both had the dining menu (set) so I can't speak for the other dishes. However, the set menu was pleasant and surprisingly good. The restaurant was clean, bright, and very specious. The service was excellence... More

My wife and I had saved our $2 coins in Australia to save up to go to a really great romantic restaurant in Venice. We chose "Alle Corone" after reading the reviews. The first night we couldn't find them. Simply we went to the street they were supposed to be on and it wasn't there (5527 Campo della Fava). The... More

We had the most romantic dinner here. We ordered sea bass and literally the waiter carved it for us at our table and it was delicious. This place is spectacular. Expensive but for a romantic evening, totally worth i!

We were staying at the Ai Reali, so our dinner was the same room as our typical breakfast. That might have shifted the ambience opinion a bit to the downside, but it is a rather bleak space. Beyond that, the meal was fabulous and we had a wonderful dinner as part of our honeymoon.

We choose this restaurant to celebrate our son 17 birthday on 9/01/16 and had been very pleased with our choice. Service was impeccable, food was divine, presentation was exellent. Yes, this restaurant is not cheap but our overall bill for 7 people was 350€(50€/person) which is not bad at all for this class of restaurant. We had bottle of vine,... More

Well I think the title is pretty explanatory...just one more note...the arrogant staff who literally threw the plates on table, threw cheese on my plate, hands and table, and snatched my money out of my hand. The food...before I ate hear I didn't believe Italians could cook so badly

The appetizers and first courses were incredible - simply superb (we had the mozzarella, lobster ravioli and veal). Among the best I ever tasted. The main courses (we had the turbot fish and steak with cheese) were not of the same standard in our opinion. The turbot lacked flavor in my opinion and I didn't find the "crusty" flakes that... I made a reservation (by emailing the restaurant--got a prompt response) for my first night in Venice while traveling with my husband and a friend. We were absolutely blown away. We tried the tasting menu, which I highly recommend. It was all seafood, but provided an amazing amount of variety. I can't even pick a favorite course, they were all... More

This restaurant is to be found in the Ai Reali, a classic hotel, a short walk from the Rialto Bridge. We decided to enjoy the tasting menu when we visited at the end of our holiday and what a splendid extravagance it was. There are 6 courses and, if you desire, 4 pairing wines at an additional cost. The courses... More

Brought my girlfriend here for our final evening in Venice. It was definitely the best decision I made! We decided to go for the taster menu and try some real Venetian cuisine. Couldn't fault the food or the service at all! Each dish was explained when it was brought to the table and it looked fantastic. The waiters were all... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
