A superb find on the banks of Venice! Have the salt cod cicchetti washed down with a crisp house white

We arrived around lunchtime on a Sunday and it was heaving with People! Luckily you can take your cichette and your drink outside, sit on the wall and watch the world go by! Cichette are €1,20 per piece and come in a bout 30 different topings from fish (great baccala) to meat and vegetarian - we must have tried them... More

Stopped there for a little snack while wandering around Dorsoduro. Bunch of happy locals eating, drinking and laughing in front is always a good sign :) We had amazingly tasty chiccetti (10x) mortadella panini and aperol spritz, all that for 16 euros. Excellent value for money and lovely hangout :)

I fell in love with this little place. The crostini chichetti are fantastic, and you have to drink and eat a lot to spend more than 10 euros. Perfect for lunch, and the wine is really great (especially as it is about £1 a glass) Go seek this place out if you are in Venice.

I saw this place rated well on TripAdvisor so we decided to check it out. It was pretty busy when we arrived, but we were able to easily get to the counter and order something for take away. We got a few finger foods and the gal told us to pick two extras at no charge as it was late... More

This was one of our destinations in our unofficial street food tour of Venice. It's a tiny place with only a few seats, so grab your food and sit outside. Do yourself and everyone else a favor and figure out what you want before you're served - it was super annoying to have people crowd in front of you looking... More

Must visit if you are in Dorsoduro. We visited after the Peggy Guiggenheim Galleryonly a short walk away. Beautiful quality food and good wine in a small atmospheric bar with a small seating area opposite the Gondola repair boatyard. We were luck to get a seat and went back for seconds the food was sooooo good. A real trip highlight.

This place was one of our favorites from the trip! Delicious and simple cicchetti (small bites) and a really neat atmosphere. Feels local. Right across from the place where gondolas are repaired and worked on. Fun to watch. It was busy at lunchtime, but the service was friendly and fast.

Really lovely buzzy tapas bar right next to the canal. They serve great tapas and wine by the glass is very reasonable too... it was packed on the two occasions that we visited so we only drank wine but very good and the tapas looked fab.

Thank LaraMark

Al Squero is the only Osteria in Venice exactly in front of the Ancient Squero of San Trovaso. There is no other place where appreciating from its window the construction or restoration of original Venetian gondolas. It is a cozy and comfortable place where you can share with friends a glass of Italian wine and taste an appetizing “cicchetto” at a small price. The selection of wines you can taste or buy at Al Squero comes from small regional wine firms of Friuli, Trentino-Alto Adige and Veneto, so that it is guaranteed unique care at the quality and distinctiveness of their products.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
