When in Venice, enjoying an ice cream is a must and we were not disappointed when we stopped at Gran Caffe Chioggia for an ice cream!

Place was 1/3 busy and took an ice cream to the take out counter. While i seated with my son to listen to the music a zealous waiter came to ask me to leave and escalated his voice out from nowhere. Was only asking to...stay 2 min to finish the ice cream but the Guy wanted to showoff on front of his colleagues and quickly raised his voice. Very little appreciation of the situation and likely to say a lot about the place. You should pass.More

It is beautiful to drink your wine and listen the live music in the beautiful square and atmosphere... Butttt I will warn you, prices are very very expensive!

Ok, it's on the piazza, next to the palace, but no 10 euros for an ordinary Cola! I think it's not cool...

This is obviously very much a first stop for tourists as they disembark from the water taxis and enter St Mark's Square. Nice atmosphere and pleasant seating to people watch. We had, obviously, a Bellini each and at 13 Euros was not cheap but service...was good and drinks excellent. Served with a bowl f crisps we had a good start to our visit to Venice.More

If you go to Venice then you just have to go to one of the cafes in St Mark's Square and a have drink. You know it is going to be expensive but then it has to be done. We went to the Gran Caffe...and it is a touch of luxury; and an expensive one at that. But it really is an experience not to bemissed and. of course, you are paying for the location and the ambience. We sat and enjoyed two Aperol Spritz (each!!) - and Ineeded a mortgage to pay for it. But the service is good, the drinks are served beaitifully on a tray with a cloth, plus napkins and various nuts and nibbles. And there is the small musical ensemble there to serenade the guests - and they are good. All done in excellent taste and we enjoyed it thoroughly especially early evening when it was less crowded and a little cooler.. Well worth it ..More

When you're in Venice you really must have at least a coffee in Piazza San Marco and we were happy that we stopped here. They must be plagued every day, all day, by lots of people wanting to use their toilets without buying anything, so...disregard any comments about this. We decided that having lunch here was a better option than a gondola ride. We didn't see one person in a gondola with a smile on their face. Good decision. We paid less than 40 euros for a wine, coke, toasted ciabatta tuna sandwich and a pizza, with a free bowl of crisps and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Music great. You do need to watch out for the pigeons and seagulls swooping down and stealing your food! The wine glass was knocked over by one pigeon attempting to devour the crisps.More

Yes you pay €9 for a coffee but that is cheaper than some of the luxury cafes on the square, but the service was great the experience priceless as you listen to the band and people watch from a stunning location

We stopped to share an iced cream (sitting down) and enjoyed the atmosphere and scene. It was good that there were no extra service/music/table charges etc - it was all included in the price. Only thing was you need to beware the toilet guards and...you need to show your receipt or they’ll get upset and push you away.More

Waiters being awfully rude!!! This is the worst place on earth! I totally felt I was in an uncivilized world! I was told we need to buy one bottle of water in order to use their toilet. I said ok, and was intending to tell...my Mum about this who is with my 6 year old DD in the queue. At that moment the waiter literally PUSHED me out! And SHOUTED to me “one bottle for one person!” I have never been pushed out of a place in my whole life! My journey to Venice has totally been ruined. I would say DON’T go to this Cafe if you don’t want to ruin your trip to Venice.More
