I don't understand how they have 4 stars on TripAdvisor. The atmosphere was hostile, the tables were dirty, there was a hair in my wine glass, one of the grissini offered had already been partially chewed by a previous guest, not to mention the blonde waiter whom we found to be incredibly rude. As if that wasn't enough the pizza... More

Found this restaurant purposely off the tourist track. Very welcoming, personalised service. Amazing food!!! It was quite simply the most exquisite carbonara I have ever eaten in my life!!! I was so sad when it was finished, but so full!!! Definitely recommend!!

This delightful restaurant is not easy to locate. We feel very fortunate to have located it in the Jewish Ghetto across the courtyard from a Jewish Temple. This was by far the best pizza we had in in Italy. It was made with mozzarella and brie cheeses. Then the toppings were added. Dining outside, the people watching here was almost as... More

Went for dinner. Me and my wife were taken to a table outside, and left there for at least 20 min without menu or drinks, as the waiter seems to have forgotten about us. I had to ask for the menu and the waiter apologized. After we placed our order, the meal arrived promptly. Best pizzas we had in Venice.... More

The food was quite ok, and it was actually pretty decent service as well, but a cover charge of 2 Euros per person for lunch seems a bit excessive.

Had a great meal here for lunch. Just off the main square in the Jewish Ghetto, didn't get much interaction from the waiter though, just took the order and brought the food.

This café seemed to be very tourist orientated from outside but the clientele were all Italian and the food was good and generous with a fixed-price menu. In spite of the name, they sell a lot more than pizza. We both had spaghetti with vongole and cozze (small clams) for starters then salmon for our main course. It came with... More

The size of the pizza was more than adequate for two people, particularly when an appetizer was ordered. Quality was good.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
