Place recommended by a friend who studied in Venice. At first sight, terrible chaos... we with 2 small children thought about running away. In reality the staff made us feel at home, a warm, chaotic place with music and lots of people coming and going eating and drinking. In our opinion, the food was good, super abundant homemade Bigoli and well-made toad stuff (made especially for children, not on the menu). High prices, especially €3.50 for cover charge left me perplexed. Having said that, congratulations to the staff, cheerful and helpful.

We stayed one night midweek. A lot of people and too much confusion. Although we had booked the table we waited half an hour. We ate very well but prices went up too much. With such high prices I honestly prefer to go to other restaurants with the same quality where the table service is better and the customer has more attention.

Went back with a friend on recommendation because she had beautiful memories. We waited outside before we could enter, we were there with the scheduled opening time but they opened more than half an hour later. The menu list came on paper (everything is fresh so a day ticket) but only in Italian. While the clandy comes from all over the world we sat next to Australians and Japanese. It was blisteringly hot inside and very noisy the. I thought it was expensive for what was served, but large portions but around € 35.00 for a main course and € 20 for a basic pasta is free at the price. The staff remain standing to take orders, at your table hang notes with the name and time of the next guests, you feel pushed. We were outside again within an hour. Because of the heat and the noise we got dessert from the neighbors. Bursting headaches for the rest of the evening

We visited the restaurant on the recommendation of friends who were there before Corona. We had reserved a table for 7:30 p.m. on a Friday. The restaurant was overcrowded. But we got a small table. We ordered a starter and a recommendation of the day, a brill. The starters were relatively sober, the staff only brought the requested spices when we were almost finished with the starter. The fish was overcooked and served on a huge platter that left barely any room to eat on the small table. The fish and side dishes tasted fine. The staff were completely overwhelmed, the music, which was much too loud at first, could no longer be heard after a while because it was much louder in the restaurant. In short: we would not recommend the restaurant and would not visit it again.

Well to start, I want to say that this restaurant is superbly located especially during the magnificent sunset in summer. I also recommend that you go there on a Monday evening to enjoy the concerts which provide a very pleasant atmosphere even if, standing outside, we were unable to hear the succession of chords, but it is not a big deal because it gave us allowed you to enjoy the sumptuous sunset. Now let's move on to the dishes, we were very pleasantly surprised, the food is typically Venetian and exquisite, with fresh fish and wonderfully mastered frying. As for the portion… generous and copious, the fishing is very varied but always at the top. A polenta typical of these regions, bordering on panade, not for everyone. In short, the food is delicious and fresh. The staff are charming. But one problem with this restaurant, the waiting time. Here, you will have to be patient and allow at least 1h30 to see the color of your dish. Despite this small thing, I 100% recommend this extraordinary Venetian restaurant if you have time and are not in a hurry.

I go back after a few months, the price changes, more expensive and poorer dishes. The service remains very good, although we were on a Monday it is very crowded. Initial spray a little disappointing, in the water glass. Good fish but not excellent, the frying definitely poor for the asking price. Even the appetizer at 50€ for two is exaggerated, as for the blanket at 3.50€ for a placemat and a measly napkin. No wipes, no napkin supplements. 260€ in 6 and not even a grump...

Where do I start? Extremely chaotic place, there is no one at the entrance to welcome the customer and when asking for a table the staff turned out to be unprofessional and superficial. UNFORTUNATELY (in retrospect) we find a table and sit down. Long wait, even at the table next to ours they only serve one of the two people, making the other wait 1 hour! The patties arrive and they are poorly seasoned (very little fish inside) and of poor quality (bigoli almost raw and tasteless). All accompanied by loud music that was chaotic and unbearable to say the least. The undertaking is absolutely not worth the expense.

The Paradise I experienced on a previous trip is definitely lost. The traditional bacaro has become a popular restaurant for tourists like dozens of others in Venice. We arrived around 6pm for the traditional Venetian aperitivo. After 15 minutes waiting, a waitress came to take the order and asked us if it was for aperitif or dinner. We ordered cicchetti. These were soaked in oil, tasteless. At 18:50 the waitress started clearing our table and at 18:55 told us that we had to leave as soon as we finished our drinks because people had booked for 19:00 and were already there. Let me make it clear that our table was not reserved when we arrived. Reserved tables have a little paper with a name and Reservation Time. Heaven has turned into hell, too bad.

We went on word of mouth received from my son, a student in Venice. Typical Venetian tavern warm and noisy. Friendly and helpful welcome. We ordered two starters and two first courses. First arrived the octopus in sauce that unfortunately appeared very undercooked immediately. I asked the waitress to replace it with grilled cuttlefish. Change made without batting an eyelid. The cuttlefish were as gorgeous as the other three dishes. Goodness that overshadowed the timing of the service. Venetian restaurants are often thought of as places suited to squeezing tourists but Paradise Lost debunks this cliché. Correct prices given the quality. Bravo, we will definitely return to our next trip to Venice.

Third passage to Paradise Lost, third positive confirmation. Booked a few days in advance, requested and obtained an outdoor table on the canal bank. As always, very generous portions, one course is enough to fill you up.... but there is "no room" left to taste the rest! and hence the need to stop by several times.... This tour there were three of us, including a little girl, we had sautéed mussels, mixed fried food and a mixed starter (hot and cold cicchetteria)... All excellent. Fast service (I don't know how they do it, they're very organised, everyone runs like crazy...), prices in line with the quality of the food, the quantity and the location. There will be a fourth round...

While on holiday in Venice, this place was recommended to us by our guide. Unfortunately we struggled to find it and therefore were 20 minutes late on the reservation... it was pointed out to us that for this reason they gave the table away but despite this they made us sit shortly after. Unfortunately, however, we came across an unfriendly waitress who set the table with the only water glasses that were different from the rest of the place, transparent ones typical of a trattoria, not the Murano ones that everyone had... beautiful and colourful; after a long time, seeing that he hadn't yet brought the bread and wine (unlike the other tables who received everything immediately), we asked for it and received a rude response from our waitress as well as the wine that we hadn't asked for because it was still rather than sparkling tidy. After a long time, the starter, first course and second course arrived... but always with a lot of "bad luck" compared to other tables who arrived, ordered and quickly ate. Excellent quality food however...and very generous portions. Medium-high prices...

I am so disappointed with this restaurant that we visited as a result of a very positive recommendation from our daughter. I ordered the bigoli with pesto, potatoes and green beans. Most of the dishes consisted of various types of fish. They don’t have menus in English but the waiter will explain the various dishes on the menu. A little while after I had ordered, the waiter informed me that the green beans had finished. This was acceptable - sort of. The bigoli and pesto was served and when I asked where the potatoes were, the waiter told me me that they were finished. How do you run out of potatoes? So 50% of my meal was finished.. It was strange that when he was explaining the menu, he could speak very good English but when I complained, his English seemed to desert him. When the bill arrived, I asked for a reduction for what I did nor receive. He said all he could offer was a Lemoncello. A thimble full arrived. In my opinion this was a typical tourist rip off. The owners/managers of Paradiso Perduto will become honourable when the tourists stop coming.

Yesterday we ate at this Osteria. We already ate there that December and were satisfied. We arrived at 8.30pm, at which point half the dishes were no longer available to order. We really wanted a pasta so we ordered the Bigoli torchiati available in Venetian sauce. The waiting time for this pasta was a minimum of 30 minutes. The waiter said that the pasta would be with onions, capers and anchovies, he also warned that the pasta would be very salty. the pasta was just awful. It only contained onion! There was nothing in the sauce except onions. There wasn't even a piece of anchovy or capers. We were also not allowed to pay separately at the checkout. We sat next to a couple who were also disappointed by the lack of food on the menu and this pasta. It's a shame the first time was positive, now it's not. We won't be back.

We went on a busy Saturday night, on the recommendation of our 21 yr old son. Paradiso Perduto was rammed, lively and fun. A jazz band played, before sitting on the table next to us for dinner. The menus are Italian only and food did not disappoint. We both had local craft lager, which tasted authentic. So a really enjoyable atmosphere. Even in November, younger people were enjoying Saturday night on the quayside. I felt some of the reviews on Paradiso Perduto missed the point. It’s slightly away from the touristic centre, and yes, waiters are run off their feet. If you want plastic menus in English and perfect table service, do not come here! We loved it…

Beautiful place and great service, but terrible food. It will be good for cicchetti, but NOT for a dinner. We ordered a bottle of water, a glass of white wine, an appetizer, two first courses and a coffee for a total of 76 euros. Absolutely not worth it as the first courses were not good at all: tasteless pasta and badly cooked rice.

Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
