On our first day in Venice we asked for a recommendation from our hotel and we ended up having a wonderful meal in a wonderful atmosphere. We both ordered the sea bass with zucchini and it was lovely. Truly a great meal in a wonderful atmosphere.

We stopped by this family run restaurant at the recommendation of our concierge- we were looking for seafood!- and were able to secure a reservation for the same night. This place is just amazing. You can just feel the sense of pride that the owners take in the food, service, and experience of the dinners. My husband and I both... More

The most amazing food I have found in Venice. Incredible traditional and new Venetian cuisine. Amazing owners and staff. A true hidden gem just off the beaten path.

What a great restaurant hidden in the Cannaregio district. The food was fantastic but the details on the dessert plates were outstanding. Definitely a must place to eat!

We chose the 'mare menu' (€49pp) to explore a new dimension of Italian cuisine after days of pasta in its various interpretations. What a delight to follow the chefs' suggestions, accompanied by a 'Lugana' white wine (34,00). Every step of the way delicious, including a strawberry desert to challenge the very best of its kind. Competent staff, professional, not over... More

We had a pleasant evening here and the meals were generally very good. The star of the show, though was the young lady hand crafting sweet delights behind the counter. All were well appreciated but the cheesecake and strawberries she prepared for me was quite beautiful. Mmmm I can almost taste it now!

After an awesome experience we had yesterday we came again today. This is an excellent restaurant and probably one of the best restaurants where we've dined recently. It is managed by a very kind lady who pays attention to every small detail. While last night we had some very special dishes, today we took the seafood stew which was outstanding.... More

We found this restaurant last year and had a good meal, so on this visit we had to come back. It is a small place, so I would recommend booking ahead. The menu looked pretty much the same as last year and the food was very good again. Not a big menu but it offers a reasonable choice. The presentation... More

Right in the heart of Venice, between Santa Lucia train station and the Rialto Bridge, and just a few steps away from the Casino, you will find a restaurant where we have translated our welcoming philosophy into a concrete culinary experience: "La Colombina".
There are numberless reasons to visit and revisit Venice, but now you can add one more: "La Colombina", a gastronomic experience inspired by tradition but also focused on contemporaneity. In short, a new "classic" ranging from traditional Venetian dishes to unique gourmet temptations going from aperitifs to lunches and special occasions.
How to reach us:
It's incredibly simple! From Piazzale Roma or the Santa Lucia train station follow the main street (Strada Nova) towards Ponte di Rialto (take a left when exiting the train station). In the "calle" (small street) just in front of the "Teatro Italia" you will find La Colombina. We are only 10 minutes away from the central station, just a few steps from the Casino and 10 minutes from the Rialto Bridge. La Colombina is also conveniently adjacent to a "Vaporetto" stop (San Marcuola, Linea 1) and is centrally located and ideally very close to Venice's main attractions.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
