This restaurant is right on the water. We had a corner table, watched the gondolas come and go, listened to their music and loved our lunch. The food very high quality. The service impeccable, friendly and well trained. We will go back on our next visit.

I wasn't impressed with the afternoon tea spread. Don't get me wrong, the sterling silver was posh and the view of The Grand Canal was spectacular but the mini sandwiches and desserts was just alright. The cream tasted more like whipped cream and the desserts were only tarts. I guess I was expecting a variety of mini desserts.

Nothing beats having dinner facing the Grand Canal and the beautiful Church of Santa Maria Della Salute on a lovely summer evening. The fact that the food is delicious adds, of course, to the total experience. The risotto was the best I had in Italy. All the food was fresh and nicely prepared and presented. The dessert of tiramisu was... More

This is definitely a must for an unforgettable romantic night, you cannot go wrong. Although the food is not 10/10 and a little too expensive for what it is, the atmosphere makes up for it. Had dinner here on the first night of our honeymoon through Italy. The restaurant is beautiful with outdoor seating on the terrace, right on the... More

While in Italy celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary, we reserved a table at Club Del Doge! We have to admit, this was one of our top 5 dinners EVER! From the time we walked in, until we left each team member was attentive and personable. When making the reservation, I mentioned that it was our anniversary. Each team member said... More

We decided to eat at the hotel because we were tired. We knew that it would cost more due to the location, but also thought that the meal would be great for the price. NOT. Meal was over priced and pretentious! A bunch of waiters running around and the service was terrible. Brought the wrong wine we ordered, seemed put... More

How many times have you been taken to your table and your wife cried when she saw the setting? The view is simply breath taking. The staff went out of their way to make this one of the most romantic anniversaries we've had in our 32 years together (this marks the second at Gritti and after this dinner, it might... More

Another couple we met at Cip's Club at the Cipriani Hotel said the Club del Doge at the Gritti Palace is the best restaurant in Venice. They were right. Ambience, presentation, taste and service was all top notch. We dined on the deck with a splendid view of the Grand Canal- quiet, peaceful and romantic. I had the Filet of... More

Booked here for my husband's birthday and asked if we could have a terrace table as it was a special occasion. Got a standard email in reply but after a fabulous meal at a table right on the edge of the Terrace a birthday strawberry flan was produced!! Wonderful service, great food and a sublime setting on a fantastic evening.... More

Warm Aug evening. Sitting by the Grande Canale. Listening to the calm evening traffic by the canal. People in nice dressing and chatting. Your family with you at the table. Surrounded by good service. Delicious full course menu with smooth wine. Nice finish with few sips of grappa. Venice dinner just doesn't get better than this. The mood, the atmosphere... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
