We have been going to this place for the last past 10 years. It's just absolutely gorgeous Everytime. Ask them what they have off the menu.

Unlike all the bad reviewers we had a great experience! Sergio our waiter was a hoot! He was playing with us with his recommendations, by the end of the meal he was singing to us, I can see why others could think he was rude but it's just an act.the calamari was the best ever! As was all our meals!

A long standing and reliable venue for couples or family dinning. Typical menu of pasta, seafood and other local dishes and the waiters are not shy and certainly have lots of experience with tourists. Nevertheless its a character place and I recommend a visit.

My favorite dish was the squid ink pasta. My hubby liked the cream baccalà with polenta. I thought the staff were friendly. I don't know why some people are complaining so much on TripAdvisor about their service. It was 90% Italians when we dined, and that's always a good and comforting sign for me;)

A place worth eating and recommending. Il N G is patronised by both locals and also tourists for its very good cooking such as grilled scampis and fried sea food. The wine list is attractive too. The people is of good advice re the catch of the day.

This was easily the worst meal we had in Italy. The food was cold, their service appalling. We were serially ignored while locals were served. I asked a question about a bottle of wine and was told "I speak English, tell me what you want." Terrible experience avoid at all costs!

I have attempted to obtain a place on the forward terrasse on two separate evening and, although enough tables were free, I was answered that everything was fully booked. Yet obviously not for couples.

Sad. First night in Venice and this place doesn't make a good impression. Waited over an hour for food. Still waiting for our mains after an hour and a half. Starter too salty to eat. Sent it back. Why are we still here. Couples on either side of us left halfway through their meals. Bad! Bad! Bad!

Visited here on our first night a short walk from our hotel. It was very busy so thought it would be good . Starter was good. Main course quite small portions but was nice. Tiramisu thought would be authentic but just a lot of cream. Service average. One waiter was particularly inattentive. Expensive but then where isn't in Venice. Won't... More

We had dinner there yesterday. Started with the crab for 18 euros. NOT worth it! It was maybe three spoonful of the crab. The maincourses was ok but small portions. Then we wanted some dessert, asked the waiter for the menu which he ignored completely. After a while we were fed up and asked for the bill. Also ignored but... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
