I found this cute little place in Venice from the reviews here in Tripadvisor. It's a cosy small place on the canals and it has a quite interesting menu from traditional italian dishes. The personnel was friendly and helpful. I ordered Tagliatelle al Ragu and a glass of red wine, both delicious. Only thing the serving was small to medium... More

We were the only tourists. The propietors, very nice, adress most customers by their first names. We had very nice farfalle with salmon and zucchini, that reminded us of ancient flavours. And an excellent grilled vegetarian dish with optional mozzarela.

We ate here twice, and came for Spritz a couple of times as well. The staff do their best to help and their home cooked food is amazing. I will definitely be returning when I'm next in Venice. The menu changed each time we went, but expect seafood and pasta dishes.

Do not miss this absolute gem in a magic canal crossing close to the wonderful Campo San Giovanni e Paolo. There are few table so if you do not book, you likely find no place. Do not woory you can still do it the Venetian way: grad an abuntant glass of prosecco or a spriitz and ask Davide to prepare... More

My husband and I found this place after reading the reviews here. It is out of the way and off the tourist track. The place is small and can only seat 15 people. The other patrons were all locals. I had the carbonara and hubby had the parmigiana. Both dishes were fantastic. You knew you were eating home cooking. We... More

Only 10 or so table and from having gone a couple of times it is basically a locals place. Although the owner doesn't speak English he is happy to try and will let you try any of the items on the menu. Good local wine. Very friendly! AND very reasonably priced. This is not a night out kind of place.

I'm wondering if "Horrible Experience" was at the same restaurant. (Maybe the chef was sick the day they came??) Anyway, everything we had here was homemade and wonderful. We watched them prepare it from scratch. Pasta maker and all... There was a waitress and a chef. Yes, there was a slight language barrier, but we figured out what the vegetarian... More

We went in just as the restaurant was open for dinner hours. The weightress (a.k.a the chef) handed us a hand written piece of paper with random courses names. She didn't speak english so we couldn't find out what are they, but we decided to go with it and pointed out some of them. Spaghetti salmon was our safest bet,... More

We had a great lunch here. The restaurant is small so you may need to wait for a table. There were lots of locals in for lunch or taking orders back to their offices. I had the fish platter for €20 it was delicious and had so much food! The house wine is also delicious and great value.

Big portion full venice seafood platter + nice pasta+ water for 28 euros. Not everything in Seafood platter will suit everyone's taste but you will find something you like. For pasta we personally like the one with mushrooms most.

Tipical local osteria run by young minded guys. Turists can find a place where to chill out close to the locals or have a meeting or a romantic place for eating close to the channel and having a good glass of wine. Local cusine and good wines, tasty home made cakes, fish and sea food, cheeses and hams selection, nice mix salads and more! Buon appetito!!!

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
