A lovely, intimate place to eat in Venice. Great value for money. The vegan biryani was fantastic. Well worth a visit. Friendly staff.

This little restaurant served one of the best meals we had on the whole trip. The service was kind, attentive and professional. The house white wine was pleasant and well cooled. We had a starter with more than 6 different specialities - all very good and we automatically got served more bread when we were running low. For the main... More

As vegetarians, we had plenty of dining options in Italy, but we were ready for a change of pace from the pizzas and pastas we’d been eating. We enjoyed Frary’s so much, we returned for a second night. In addition to the delicious food—which includes many options for meat-eaters as well as vegetarians—Frary’s has a warm and lively atmosphere and... More

Since it got reported as ' excellent', I expected a lot. The ambience was really nice, and de people as well, but the food was really plain. I just missed some taste, and it was quite expensive as well.

This place is a must stop for anyone who thinks of them as a foodie and wants to get off the tourist path of Italian food in Venice. The Mediterranean dishes from dolmas, feta and spinach flaky pastry with a red pepper spread on the site, and vegetarian rice dish in yoghurt sauce exceed anything I have ever had before... More

...when one of the best meals we had in Venice was at a restaurant serving a combination of Greek and Lebanese food! Such a nice break from the sea of "trattorias" selling the same uninspired pizza and pasta dishes to weary travelers. It seems like the only requirement for opening a restaurant in these very touristy places is the ability... More

We enjoyed our visit to Frary's. The food was tasty and filling with generous portions. The staff were very friendly and welcoming and I would go here again. There is a middle eastern/Mediterranean influence to the menu so not typically Italian, but a nice alternative to pizza which is hit and miss in Venice!

We stayed near this restaurant and decided that it would be nice to have something different to eat and as it also appeared to be very cosy and inviting we went in and found that it did live up to our expectations, staff were very friendly, helpful and appreciative of our comments and compliments! It was a pleasant change to... More

I go there with my boyfriend quite often when we don't feel like eating at home. The food is amazing and the prices are absolutely fair. Don't forget that you are in Venice where everything is crazy expensive. They have a huge menu with many options, so it is very easy to find something you like. They also have vegetarian... More

We were looking for something besides pasta and pizza and found this on trip advisor. It is by far the best meal we've had in Venice over the past four days !

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
