Nice little restaurant with good food. I tried the soar sardine and my Mom took a mushroom risotto. Both dishes were delicious. There were also polenta and free italian bread.

Popped in to take the weight off our feet and had a bottle of red and a long chat with the waiter. Very pleasant chap with lots to say, full of information and very friendly

The menu selection and pricing looked good, but the quality of the presentation was average. Basically it was a simple meal which was tasty, but could have easily been replicated at home. However the wait staff was fantastic, and his sense of humor made the evening. The bill was accurate, but a service charge was added at the discretion of... More

Maxim, our gondolier recommended this place for an early dinner. "Good food, not expensive." It was across the small canal from where we hopped off the gondola so we're a bit wary (maybe just pointing us to a close eatery). Our misgivings were completely off base. The moment we walked in, we felt welcomed - like we were having dinner... More

We had a good experience here. The waiter was very friendly and funny. The chef could be heard outside, which was also pretty funny. Evidently he is a perfectionist, per the waiter. Food was good. We started with calimari, which was very tasty. I had the Mediterranean pizza, also very good. My girl had the four cheese gnocchi, very rich... More

We ate here on a Wednesday evening as we wanted somewhere outside and small serving traditional food. My daughter is hard to please at times but loved her Carbonara and my Calamari was great - like most restaurants in Venice items such as chips etc are extra and don't come as part of the meal so overall food is quite... We stumbled across this restaurant on the way back to the train station and we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were very friendly and the tables were all garnished with hand made glasses giving a very authentic feel. We ordered two margarita pizzas to share and it was genuinely the best pizza I've had in Italy! Price was very reasonable,... More

Just like the previous review, we must CONFIRM the staff is very unfriendly and cheat with the bill. They charged €5/coffee (where everywhere else it costs €2). When asked for the bill they tried to waste time and finalllllly came back with a piece of paper (see attached). AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

The other comment right below rings true to my experience. Avoid at all cost! The staff tried to short change us and added up non-existing item to the list. Food was crap, tiramisu had too much limonade to it so it tasted more like a tarte citron in the end. It's right next to the smelliest section of the canal.... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
