unfortunately , the day we ate at this restaurant the fridge snapped , and it was the waiter's first day, and everything was chaos. so my rating is for that evening , but I appreciate the guests who have written positive reviews , because when everything is as normal again this restaurant probably is a very nice and good place... We spent a great diner here. Its a small, friendly restaurant, with very friendly, and professional staff. The tuna steak was excellent, just like the other dishes! The waitress was very kind, helped us a lot

In all honesty it is hard to find in Venice a restaurant where you can have good food at reasonable prices. Ribot is the one exception, where food served is excellent. We had caprese as starter and melon/ham. Both portions were large, and of excellent quality. After this we had pasta: linguini with squid, gnocci with ragout and spaghetti pomopdore... More

The restaurant appeared well reviewed and out of the tourist trap fray, so we decided to spend our final night in Venice at Ribot. Warning: it is no longer the same restaurant it once was (new ownership/management/staff apparently) Issues: - bread was dry (not fresh and sliced well advance) and had ants crawling all over it. ominous start. - waitress... So disappointed. This restaurant was highly recommended to me by people who visited last year and the year before. Fawlty towers comes to mind, service was terrible, food was coming out and being put down on the wrong tables, we only got half our mains, others had to wait. The bread baskets were crawling with ants, the plant and vegetation... More

There is not one redeeming feature about this place and those that have posted positive reviews need their tastebuds checked. From the overcooked scallops drenched in breadcrumbs (I've rarely eaten a worse starter) to the wine in the ice bucket - missing the ice - this place must be avoided. The "steak" they served was inedible and the freshly cooked... More

Boiled Venitian mixed fish starter was very good. Mixed seafood pasta and pene with duck ragu were both excellent. Chocolate lava cake, they called a tart, was perfect as was a puff pastry and cream dessert. Ordering and settling on a wine was an interesting experience. The upselling and suggested wine substitution was not appreciated. Bill for 2 was €80.... More

With good food, wine and service, a background guitarist and reasonable value difficult to find in Venice what's not to like?

We went to this restaurant two years ago and were looking forward to it on our visit this month. Must be new owners because the experience was very underwhelming. Surroundings were excellent, lovely table overlooking canal with Italian violin playing. Excellent wine list broken into the various wine regions of Italy. No other compliments sadly. Bread arrived and when we... More

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighborhood identity.
