We were looking for somewhere to enjoy a last meal in venice and came across this resturant tucked in a small piazza behind a church on the calle specchieri 10 minutes walk from st marks square. The candle lit tables were really inviting so we decided to give it a go. Our waiter showed us to our table provided menu,s... More

This is some of the best spaghetti I have ever had in my life. My parents had been to this restaurant several years earlier and advised us to go. It was worth finding!

I had a few dinners here on a recent visit to Venice. I had eaten here in the past but had a difficult time finding it because I could not remember the name, until one afternoon I stumbled upon it again. On one visit I was the only tourist surrounded by local workers that the waiters knew by name and... More

It is ironic for me to read reviews calling this a touristy restaurant because when my family ate here for lunch, we were the ONLY tourists there. Many looked like local workers, the conversation was lively and everyone was enjoying the classic Italian fare. The price was reasonable, the service was good, and the location left you feeling lost somewhere... More

Reviewing having ate elsewhere, I can say this was a good stop. Very friendly welcoming staff. Food came very quick, huge portion of pasta and seafood. Would have liked more tomato and herbs but tasty all the same and hit the hunger spot. This Osteria is located in a quaint square with an authentic mask maker. Also worth a look.

We went there after reading good reviews online. We ordered two pizzas, tea and wine. To our surprise the place was completely empty. The waiter was really nice and polite. Maybe a bit disappointed that we ordered only two pizzas. However, the pizzas were ok but not outstanding. The dough was not very thin. The pizza with ham was tasteless.... More

I avoid restaurants that have people outside soliciting you to come in or that have pictures of their food next to the menu, but the kids were beyond hungry and going over the edge, so we really had no choice but to stop here. I know there are some who are comforted by familiarity and may not be so adventurous... More

We visited here on our third evening and the spaghetti carbonara was fine along with the garlic bread and white wine. The waiter Hassan was very friendly and after our meal he gave us a complimentary glass of limoncello. The restaurant was friendly and inviting but the food was nothing out of the ordinary. The chap at the next table... More

This place was amazing as it was not your standard Venice street restaurant. Close to shops that made authentic death masks. Not easy to find but a nice place. We went there twice as it was so nice.

Amazing meal! Wonderful ambience and atmosphere. Very friendly and attentive staff. Hasan made our evening! The lasagne was stunning and the wine delicious. Extremely good value for money.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
