During the afternoon, we called several times to make a reservation, but had no answer. After a long day of tourism, we arrived at The restaurant five minutes After 18:30, The openning time. However, as we were a family of six, she said that could not accept us, besides the available place. It was very disrespectaful frontal her part. Not mentioning that... More

On our last night in Venice my husband and I and another couple went to Osteria Antico Giardinetto for a seafood feast. Situated off the tourist track this small family run restaurant is a little difficult to find, being located on a small alley. However, the food and wine definitely made the small effort to find Osteria Antico Giardinetto worthwhile... More

Very small ugly room. -not "quaint small". The main dining room feels like a basement. Small windows, no views, and wall paneling. Service was nice. Food was average. Frito misto tasted like over-fried donuts. You do get lots of seafood and veggies. But donut oily taste.

Had a appetiser with a variety seafood including salted cod, scallops, pickled sardine, calamari, prawns and etc. Great to explore the different flavour. Squid ink spaghetti and scallop & small artichoke spaghetti for main. Squid ink spaghetti is enjoyable but the scallop and artichoke spaghetti has a unpleasent slightly bitter taste to it. End up with €56 without drinks

This is a small restaurant which is family run. We did not have a reservation in December 2016 and it was not a problem. Although the restaurant easily filled and re-filled tables as the night went on. This restaurant offers mainly seafood but there is also meat dishes on the menu too. I thoroughly enjoyed my seafood dishes and desert.... More

We returned to this little restaurant a week after our first visit for another serve of the delicious seafood risotto which we are still savouring in our minds. However, every seafood dish that we tasted or observed being eaten here brought smiles of joy to the diner. This unassuming but professionally run restaurant opened for dinner on 6 days when... My wife and I went here for a very, very special dinner. And it was everything we had hoped for. Getting there through some small alleys might make you wonder whether there is this great restaurant that only insiders know about. But keep on going. It's a small place with a few tables. The husband cooks what he has found... More

Venice is rather notorious for overpriced food. We were staying for the 3rd time in the same hotel (Ca' Favretto) and, prior to our most recent trip, I did some hasty research and thought that based on many reviews here that it might be good. I was delighted to discover that it is EXCELLENT. Although it is a dark alley... More

Small restaurant in a very quiet side street with a nice courtyard where we had dinner. Family-run business with excellent food and service. We had mixed seafood as starter and grilled fish and fried seafood as main course. Everything was delicious. For dessert tiramisu and a superb chocolate mousse. Good selection of wines. Fantastic service. Recommended.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
