A childhood friend had been in Venice a few days before and they stumbled upon this restaurant and raved about it, so my friends and I decided to check it out....SO GLAD WE DID! It is a little off of the beaten path but actually...just a 8-10 minute walk from Rialto Bridge. I had the filet with pepper sauce and about cleared my plate! The savory gravy-like pepper sauce that was on it was absolutely delicious. The owner recommended a great bottle of wine for us (we about had 2 bottles) and then she gave us some tasty limoncello as we were about to leave. Highly recommend this quiet little spot. The courtyard is painted a bold red and has mirrors up like you're inside. Just so cute. Will definitely visit again on future trips!More

I read about this restaurant in a 2014 Lonely Planet Guide someone had left at our AirBnb. I checked it out on Google Maps and the reviews had held up over the years. We ate our last dinner in Venice and Italy. It was the...perfect ending to our Roman holiday. What attracted me was the owners, husband back of house and wife front of house. These are always passion projects and I wanted to eat food made with love. The menu also reflected Venice’s offerings of fresh vegetables and seafood. We had strolled through the streets of Venice past little street markets of fresh produce that made me want to cry it was so beautiful. The asparagus and tomatoes. Well, I was able to enjoy them on my plate for dinner, scallops and asparagus, seafood pasta, an inventive chickpea and shrimp soup, tiramisu all delicately prepared and a great value. They have a wonderful inner courtyard that can be covered if it rains. It made for a magical evening.More

Found this lovely and unpretentious osteria just outside the fish market in Venice. Lovely dining experience. Very nice hostess Larissa was willing to reduce plate size and accommodate us in many small ways. Food was fresh and very tasteful. We enjoyed the sea bream, spaghetti...with frutti di mare, fried misto plate and arrabbiata. All extremely delightful fresh flavors. Nice wine inexpensive by the glass or bottle. Tiramisu was excellent. Small glass of limoncello was a pleasing wnd to a delightful dining experience. Seek this place out, a little off the beaten path.More

Delicious food, fantastic friendly service and an authentic intimate restaurant. Forget all the big restaurants with people outside tempting you in. Seek out this place, which you could easily walk past, and enjoy fresh local cuisine deliciously cooked and served with a smile. Great evening...will definitely come back when in Venice.More

We had a wonderful experience. This restaurant is tucked away in a quiet corner, walk fast and you might miss it. A husband and wife team are your hosts / chef - they are lovely and the service was top notch. First, I felt like...I was joining my family for a home cooked meal. As such, the restaurant is quaint and homey. The menu is two pages with plenty to offer - pasta, meat, and fish. My group tried a sample of each. The sea bream was amazing as was the filet. The raw seafood plate was also divine and it was packed with fish. The grilled seafood was good but the scallops had some sandiness to them and the salmon was a little overdone. The lamb chop was okay, a bit tough and lacking flavor. Last was the pasta with lamb stew and it was divine. So, overall we were very happy that we dined here. We would definitely return.More

The main problem in Venice about restaurants is that they cater to tourists' tastes. Tourists come to Venice from all over the world, and they expect to find "traditional" Italian dishes in the restaurants. That's why you usually get, in the same restaurant, Lasagna (which...is from Bologna), Cotoletta (which is from Milan) and Paccheri all'Amalfitana (which is from... Amalfi). It's of course a total nonsense for Italians (and people with common sense), who are very proud of their culinary heritage. Well, if you want to eat in a REALLY AUTHENTIC Venetian restaurant, then Antico Giardinetto is THE place to go! Here is why: -Ingredients are extremely fresh and carefully selected by the Chef, who we met and spoke to. -Traditional Venetian Recipes like "Antipasto Misto Veneziano" are incredibly well done. -"Fritto Misto" for two is a must-go as it's probably the best ever Fritto we had in Italy (and we had many, from Amalfi to Portofino...). In fact it's a one-of-a-kind recipe, not to be missed, as there are ten (yes,, 10!) types of fish&seafood, plus some magic ingredients like green apples. The taste is absolutely incredible and well worth the price paid. -The selection of Venetian Wines is perfect, we tried many in Venice, but the best we found was at the Antico Giardinetto: go for their Soave as it's light&savory. -Last but not least, the service is very good, the Lady who served us is very kind, patient and ready to help you if you have any question about the menu. All in all that was by far our best evening in Venice, we'll be back ASAP! Last tip: it's really better to reserve a table (especially if you want to dine in their small garden, do not forget mosquito repellent!).More

Starter of tomatoes, mozzarella and grilled courgette. Main of Squid ink pasta and... that tiramisu. THAT TIRAMISU. Light but creamy, the right amount of coffee and cocoa powder. Perfect. I would return to Venice for this place alone. Set in a lovely garden with friendly...staff. It was one of my most special meals with friends. We still talk about how good that tiramisu was.More
