We were planning on having a drink before dinner but when we saw a queue forming outside this restaurant five minutes before it opened we took that as a sign it was good and joined the crowd! The restaurant filled up pretty much as soon as it opened and we were lucky enough to get a table. We both had... More

We arrived in Venice to join our cruise and wanted something quick, authentic Italian and comfortable. Found this restaurant on TA and it lived up to all expectations. Food, Service and atmosphere could not be faulted. Restaurant was full within 15 mins of opening so wouldn't delay as you might have a wait

We found this place while looking for another restaurant. At 9pm we'd lost the will to keep looking, and settled here. We waited for a table in the pub opposite, and were eventually seated and served graciously. We were very late, and often staff can treat the customers keeping them from going home with contempt: not so at Da Mamo.... More

Great Italian food not to be missed, so good, eat there twice. Popular restuarant so ensure you book a table. Friendly and helpful staff

The food and atmosphere were both fantastic. My husband and I came back again as the food was really good. The staff were friendly and helpful. A gem in the inner streets of Venice , not far from the main attractions in Venice. Highly recommended to visit if you love your pizzas.

We found this pizza place after we over heard someone recommend it. Located in an alley somewhere between Rialto bridge and San Marcos square, it has a nice quiet setting with cosy atmosphere. Unique part of the menu was the horoscope menu where there is a specific pizza for each star sign. My wife and i tried our unique pizzas.... More

Small, quaint and tucked away in an alleyway, this little trattoria is a great introduction to Italian food. We had a calzone that was perfection and some spaghetti vongole ( seafood) that was also delicious. Seemed to be a good mix of locals and tourists dining here and prices seemed reasonable.

We walked by this restaurant one day and made a reservation for that night because our teenager really wanted pizza for dinner. It was a good thing because 1. the food was really good and 2. without a reservation, we would have been turned away. The restaurant is tiny. My pizza had prosciutto, buffalo mozzarella, arugula and tomatoes - I... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
