It took a while until we've made it to this place but we were both more than happy after we've found it. The food was outstanding, the wine - a poet, the grappa - a true fairy tale and the atmosphere just amazing. If you're...More

Ai Mercanti is located in a charming courtyard off of one of the major shopping routes in San Marco. Inventive in its cuisine, preparations are non-traditional and quite enticing. However, there are few locals in this restaurant and one drawback is the volume of American...More

We loved everything we ordered - the potato puree with apparently crispy egg, puglia shrimp, spaghetti with chili oil and parmesan cream, and pacherri with chard and ricotta. Great meal!

Menu was modern Italian based on local ingredients. First courses good including the cod ravioli. Would have liked to have tried the cuttlefish risotto, but was only for 2. Beef kebabs were nice but would have perhaps welcomed a little more choice for main courses....More

Tucked away in a small courtyard off the maze of streets that make up Venice is a charming restaurant. We initially sat outside for drinks, but on seeing food arrive for another table decided to stay for lunch. Well worth it. Good food, excellent presentation,...More

Went on Friday in June for my birthday and glad we did. Not your traditional Italian cuisine but that's what we expected. Well presented and detailed dishes with a modern twist. We enjoyed every dish, I had the sea bream off the specials menu. The...More

Ristorante Ai Mercanti in the heart of Venice between the Rialto Bridge and Piazza San Marco is an upmarket, romantic restaurant in very cool style that enjoys a high-flying gastronomic reputation. The vaulted dining room is decorated in sophisticated terracotta and black with impressive shining globe lighting. The bar is wittily decorated with dressmakers’ forms and sexy corsets – great conversation starters. The menu is classically-inspired Venetian of a high order, focusing on things from the sea and changing every two months to take advantage of the and array of the freshest ingredients in true Italian style and pastas and desserts are all made in-house. In warm weather the dining room sprawls out onto the adjoining campiello for the loveliest al fresco dining anywhere – the Venetians who crowd Ai Mercanti certainly think so.
