Went to Osteria da Codroma not expecting much but was pleasantly amazed by the lovely seafood and friendly service. We had starter, first course, second course and dessert to share between two and that was perfect. It's a definite must if your looking for tasty Italian food at a great price and in a peaceful location.

As local as it gets. Exactly what we wanted after several complicated, ingredient heavy, "in spot" meals. It takes a great chef to make outstanding simple meals. Order what the locals do. Lovely service too.

We found this place to be perfect for a lazy Saturday lunch. Food, wine, service and atmosphere were all very good. Clientele was mostly local, but the attentive staff were more than happy to explain the ins and outs of the menu to us non-Italian speaking tourists.

We asked to share the first and second plates. They divided them for us and it was more than enough delicious seafood. I highly recommend it!

This is an historic card parlor and unique as the kitchen is off-site in another building. The seafood is fresh and dishes are authentic Venetian. The sepia pasta is excellent as is the spaghetti with clams and the fried mixed seafood was enough for 2 people to share and excellent. The grilled sea bass (beware of bones) and tuna were... More

We wanted an informal Osteria type venue for New Years Eve without the expense and hype of the other touristy places with a set menu. I booked a month in advance and it was one of if not the best place we went to in our 5 days. Great shellfish dishes and also some meet dishes to include rabbit and... More

We hadn't planned to visit Da Codroma, but we're so glad that we did! We had originally called in for directions to another restaurant, but had a change of plan and then went back for the evening. We were made so very welcome and the complimentary drinks on arrival were much appreciated. The home made food ~ fried fish to... More

We visited with a friend or we would never have found this cafe. It's off the beaten path, but good food brings many people here to find it. It has a family attitude and a great Italian ambiance.

The restaurant is signaled into the italian "Slow Food" guide. We were actually walking close to it so quick call and went for lunch. We had some cozze alla veneziana for starters, then a main course (pasta alle vongole, a classic from south italy, and pasta e fagioli, a classic from Veneto :)). The food was delicious and local, waiters... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
