This place is well worth visiting! We went for an early dinner here as a family (kids are 8 and 6). Service was extremely friendly and helpful. They don't have a kids menu - but then nowhere does in Venice. It wasn't a problem though as our children had the lasagne (which I tried and was lovely!). Felt like a... More

Forget all the chinese/indian owned restaurant of mediocre quality in Venice. Pontini is a real venitian/italian local "family-owned-style" restaurant. Local food, local service, local atmosphere. All very good (for my part excellent fish lasagna and great home made tiramisu). The price is also cheap according to the location. Keep in mind that it's not a Michelin star restaurant so don't... Jet lagged but excited to be in Venice we asked our hotel concierge Daniela where to eat a late lunch and he immediately said "Pontini". We went and I'm glad we took his advice! The seafood pasta is the best I have ever had - mussels, clams, two large prawns and the tastiest spaghetti in a garlic butter sauce with... More

Went to this restaurant as it was close to our hotel. There were lots of locals, food was fresh and fabulous, and tiramisu was amazing! Highly recommended!

We went here with my friend on our first night in Venice based on the reviews and were not disapointed. The food was amazing, apart from the cheese starter which was okay. Wine and beer were great and portions so huge we didn't have space for the dessert. That was a shame as the tiramisu looked good. We went on... More

This restaurant is 10 minutes walk from the railway station, over the canal and then to the left. Sat outside, diners have a grand stand view of all the river traffic, together with the bridges and buildings – it is also a good spot for ‘people watching’ whilst you eat. We had been wanting to try Pontini for some time... More

Went there for dinner in Venice and I apologize to my wife and mother, but had the best lasagne I've ever had. Absolutely awesome. Both kids had the salmon pasta and it was the best they've ever had. My wife had the gnocchi and it was just okay. Tiramisu was awesome. Our waiter was Fabio and was a hoot; he... More

We happened by chance on this restaurant and there was a queue for a table but as we were early we were soon seated outside by the canal. The food is typical venetian and very reasonably priced. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the food.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
