The waiter made a mistake on our order. Instead of coming up with a solution, the waiter said the kitchen was now closed. We had to share two entries between three people. The pasta was horrible. We didn't even finish it. The sea bass was good, but small for three people. I do not recommend this restaurant.

Located on the water front of Fondamento Nóvo (next to the vaporeto terminal), this restaurant seems to be overlooked by tourists. Each time we visited (about four times), the restaurant was not full. Yet, every time the food was great, and so was the service. We tried some great seafood pasta dishes and a couple of pizzas. Especially recommended is... More

First evening in Venice and wanted somewhere friendly, affordable which had good food, it was my lucky night! Pizza was huge AND I nearly finished it, casual, friendly atmosphere with no hassle from the great staff, frequented by locals. Will go back before I leave. It was a "bisto" moment!!!

Popped in whilst waiting for a boat to come from the hotel. Cheap coffee and the cakes were good too. Service was quick and friendly.

The staff is just plain fun. This is a busy local eatery. Impeccable food and service. Had several meals there. There was no space and we insisted and they squished a table into the terrace for us. great experience every time we went there.

It was super delicious Risotto with sea mix. The dessert was also nice. The view is good. Waiters do not have this famous Venecian honor. The prices are acceptable. I would recommend and will visit again.

We stopped for lunch due to the warm reviews on TripAdvisor. The location of Da Alvise was wonderful, as many other reviewers noted, with nice views on the venetian boat traffic. The service was good and also in English, which was a plus. The food, on the other hand, was below average and we Could not figure why this resturant... More

Just near the Fondamente Nuove Ferry station this restaurant has both inside and out. If you want you can sit inside a very nicely fitted out restaurant or you can go across the the small walkway and enjoy sitting in a lovely covered area which is set out over the lagoon. Most prefer this area. Wait staff were young males... More

We visited here whilst killing time waiting for a boat to take us back to Murano at the end of a long day in Venice. A chance find and we ended up spending a couple of hours sat watching the lagoon traffic and drinking a very nice carafe of house white wine! Service was wonderful as was the very large... More

We read about this on trip advisor and it was super. We stayed near the Rialto bridge and this was a wonderful easy walk. We saw many churches on the way which added to the walk. The food was reasonably priced for us. We both split the appetizer, primo, secondo, and dessert and it was plenty of food for us.... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
