We ate outside and had our wine in the enormous wine glasses. The food and wine were very good. The menu had a lot of items on it and the wine list was extensive. We had a very good meal and it was a great location. As with most places in Venice it was a bit tough to find but... More

3 tour guides took their parties here. Ours made it sounds lovely. Drink all the wine you want, enjoy a lovely meal. The pizza was ok. Our other 3 meals were tasteless. The wine was hot and vinegary. One member of the party asked for cola- he got some brown liquid with ice - not cola. We couldn't get the... More

We had gluten free spaghetti bolognese, mamma mia and a carbonara pizza. All was delicious, with some fanta, coke and water. Drink was 4.5€ each. Final bill was 48.5€. List price didn't consisted the VAT? Is this normal? The owner's family was sitting behind me, the bored kid was making video of us which was frustrating after a few mins.... More

First please note that we are in Venice in November, which is off season. It is much quieter than normal and places off the main tourist thorough fares can be slow. We had a late lunch at 2 pm and we were the only people in the restaurant, and perhaps the owner was the only person working. There was no... More

On our trip to venice our travel guide arranged lunch for us at this restaurant promising an affordable and good lunch (€15 for Pizza, Pasta or Salat plus dessert plus wine and water). The price seemed alright considering it is venice and since it was our first time there we went along. Wish we didn't. The service was mediocre at... More

Our hotel was close by so we stopped more for convenience than for recommendation (although we noticed the Trip Advisor award in the door. Very good basic Italian restaurant. Nothing exceptional but everything was very good. We would definitely go back when we return to Venice.

We ate there last night as a group of 17 people. We were seated in the wine cellar and the atmosphere was great. We were served set menu (aperitif, antipasti, pasta, risotto, chicken, tiramisu & coffee) with unlimited wine and water included. All of the food was of good quality and delicious. The restaurant is Italian owned but all the... More

We ate here twice while staying next door at hotel canaletto. Reasonable pizza and drink prices for Venice. A lot of groups stop there so at times it is busy. Service was fast though. Everything was tasty and as described. When it was hot we ate inside in the air conditioning and we ate out front in a booth one... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
