Really enjoyed the setting and the food was lovely, but just thought it was a little pricey for what it was Similarly prices to some Lagoon front venues Other than that really Enjoyed the experience The waiter was attentive but not intrusive, the seafood was fresh, the wine (if a little limited in choice) was nice too Worth a try

We truly enjoyed the canal-side dinner with wine and conversation with other guests on a slightly chilly evening. We did drink a bit of wine, and we were served three or four courses of well prepared food. Great Appetizers (see pictures) and wonderful fish. I think the fish was Branzino and VERY fresh and delicious. The topper was the table-side... More

Visited this afternoon for a quick drink and bite to eat. Menu limited and not inspiring. Staff not rude but not polite either, more interested in getting us sat down and served asap. When the menu is flung on the table, I guess you know what you are in for. Typical tourist trap. I had bruschetta, which was ok. Wife... More

While wandering through Venice we stopped for an early meal. Atmosphere, good food, canal traffic, people walking - all that Venice should be. If we return to Venice we will go out of our way to return here.

First of all the service i have experienced could not get any worse. I came here with a friend for a nice and enjoyable meal. However, the waiter who served us (Roberto) was extremely disrespectful and impolite. Secondly, Both our meals were very disappointing. The food came in two minutes after ordering, which leads to the conclusion that it just... More

We've been to this restaurant on three different occasions over a ten year period. On each visit we enjoyed good food at a reasonable price. Don't let the touristy menu (written in multiple languages) discourage you, this restaurant has wonderful, authentic food worth a try. The location on the canal is also quite nice. We would highly recommend this restaurant.

We passed by this restaurant by chance. Rather quite location not far from St. Mark's Square. Good food, good service. The tourist menu is certainly excellent value for money.

A lovely and inexpensive trattoria we popped into before heading to Chiesa Della pieta for a superb Vivaldi concert €70 for two starters, two mains, wine and grappa to follow - delicious simple food and excellent value Friendly & attentive staff, great food and everyday pricing. A perfect place to dine

We've eaten here twice in our travels to Venice. The first time (2013), we were really impressed. It is somewhat off the beaten path, and we thought we might have found a tucked away gem. More recently, we were less than impressed and less inclined to go back. You won't get a bad meal here. That is the good thing.... More

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
