**January 2020 Visit** We were recommended this restaurant by the staff at our hotel and I am so glad we were! It’s slightly tucked away so the directions we were given were very helpful, but it’s easily found with google maps also. The service is professional, attentive and warm, with staff that know their produce. The interior is classic, cozy, elegant and sophisticated. The menu is varied, with some lovely authentic Venetian dishes and I’d say price-wise, middle of the range. We were treated to complimentary bread and Prosecco to begin, then I had a steak with creamy peppercorn sauce and diced roasted potatoes, and my husband had spaghetti with seafood, washed down with a Demi bottle of Pinot Grigio. The steak was like butter and the sauce was beautiful. Potatoes were light, fluffy and crispy. The seafood pasta was a generous portion and coated in a rich, slightly spiced sauce. Perfection. To follow we had a Tiramisu (of course!) and again it was faultless. Light, creamy, not too heavy on the liquor and all the right hints of coffee. Complimentary Limoncello to end from our wonderful waiter, Luca, who was an absolute pleasure to talk to after our meal. It was a fantastic evening, far removed from the restaurants that cheapen themselves by accommodating the tourists and end up being uncomfortably packed, sub standard and soul-less. We will be back one day!! Thankyou Ae Sconte.

We had our anniversary dinner here and we’re so glad that we did! The servers made our experience very personal and special. We had the €20 set menu which was the best value we found anywhere in Venice (and they were able to sub gluten free pasta in the seafood spaghetti dish!). The outdoor courtyard setting is beautiful and romantic. Would highly recommend to anyone!

Stopped for a drink having trawled the lanes of Venice ended up having dinner and so glad we did. Fantastic food and great service nothing was too much trouble was made to feel very welcome. Sat outside in the courtyard enjoying the food, drink and afternoon sun, at no stage were we made to feel hurried. Well worth a visit to Ae Sconte albeit for food or a relaxing drink.

We had dinner based on a recommendation from a local. The waiter was able to seat us (without reservation) quickly. The menu was quite extensive and had lots of options. But I went for the tuna dish "Tagliata di Tonno All'aceto Balsamico" and a tiramasu. Didn't wait for long, food came out fast. While the tuna was beautiful presented, it did not impress me that much. I felt it needed a bit longer cooking and had too much balsamic vinegar. The Tiramasu was good and was also beautifully presented. Waiters did speak English and were really hospitable.

The location is amazing indeed, you can enjoy some silence among the busy streets of Venice. I believe that they have some kind of chef’s menu, however it is only in Italian and the staff was not friendly and not active to help. The pizza was pretty average, I have tasted better, but it was probably my fault and I should have gone with pasta, it looked amazing at the table next to us. A place worth visiting.

A bit hidden in a small alley this is a place worth looking for. We were lucky to get a table for our family without a previous reservation and were welcomed with a smile. We had the seafood risotto and lobster linguine and both were well prepared (when you go for a risotto you expect to wait for it as it is made to order) and very tasty. A plus for the pizza menu choices that fit the youngsters at the same time. Thank you!

The restaurant was recommended by Ruzzini Palace, our hotel in Venice. Nice location with plenty of outdoor dining space. Warm and attentive service. We had seafood dishes - pasta, salad and main courses. The only negative is the relatively slow delivery of dishes as the restaurant was full on a Thursday night. Certainly worth a visit while in Venice.

This restaurant in a lovely campo near our hotel was such a pleasant find. The steak in green peppercorn sauce was one of the best things I have ever tasted. The steak was perfectly cooked to order and the sauce was so delicious that you could put in on your flip flop and eat it. Add a couple of glasses of a good house wine, a friendly staff, and a charming atmosphere. This is a winner. It was so good that we ate there twice during our 5 night stay in Venice

Stumbling upon this enchanting restaurant by accident was a stroke of good luck. We ate outside in a quiet atmospheric courtyard. The service was very accommodating and the food tasty. We enjoyed a pizza to start and then shared some appetizing pasta dishes. The wine was decent and affordable. The tiramisu for desert was outstanding. A lovely and satisfying dinner in Venice!

This was a fabulous experience on our last evening at Venice. Such a friendly service with a decent sense of humour. The dishes were delicious, most notably the risotto with funghi and scampi. Also, it is worth noting that we had a Riesling which was just perfect with the dish. We will certainly return when we come back to Venice one day. It is our pleasure to recommend this place to you. Thank you for this very special evening.

Our hotel recommended this gem, hidden in a small quiet courtyard, far from the maddening crowd. Service is immediately attentive, and we were seated outside, under the shade on a very hot day. The tagliatelle with fresh crab is a must order, as well as spaghetti with prawns “ae sconte”. Delicious.

The worst dish I have ever had. The seafood risotto was tiny, watery and had no seafood in it. To add to the insult, the staff were arrogant and extremely rude. Avoid this tourist trap at all costs.

Thank you for your feedback, the prices were clearly stated on the menu, for risotto, it said minimum for two people with the price of one serving, the waiters tried to make you understand in a polite way. We still don't understand the problem because we never had a bad review on our risotto.

Staff was welcoming and helpful. The seafood pasta was one of the nicest I ever had. Lots of seafood and restaurant was able to make it spicy for us. We also enjoyed the Norway lobster with spinach as a side . The staff recommended the spinner to be cooked with olive oil and garlic. Son enjoyed it very much.

Good food, good quality and good service. We did the menu; it was 20€ each with entry, main course, water and service included. The place was quiet and nice and they brought us the food really fast. Just recommend to not to order any extra drink. Beer was 7€..it seems to be a “normal price” in Vencie. Just try to ask for the “drinks menu” always before order. In this restaurant and the rest of them.

Perhaps we had a poor quality chef? Overcooked rubbery seafood. Why overcook prawns? And why so oily? No Parmesan for the pasta because “it’s not healthy” according to the waiter. Very sharp bones in a poorly cut filet. 3 specials and 1 pizza cost 94 euros and sadly it earned my first 1 star review. I tried to finish the food but the rubbery parts were not palatable. We did get a suite so I plan to stay and cook tonight so I can get a decent meal. Very underwhelmed by that completely misleading location and the prior overrated reviews.

Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
