Great location and great meal to end our 3 day stay in Venice.Great location watching boats and planes. Waiters were good and knew what they were doing. Nobody was rushed. A perfect setting and great meal had by all.

I went as part of a large group for my sister in law's 30th birthday, and it was a very special place indeed. There were 13 of us and the staff did an amazing job - they were patient, friendly and prompt. And they certainly made an effort to make the birthday girl feel special. The food was delicious and... Went here on Saturday evening after stumbling upon it during the day. We sat down for a drink and thought the place looked nice so decided to review the menu - this resulted in us making a reservation for the evening. Food was excellent, portions are not large but they are enough. We had 3 courses, starter, main and dessert... More

Good place but they have no "reservation" signs on tables. Also they do not inform in advance that some tables are not for drinking-only. We had to change our table twice because of this.

The Algiubagio restaurant's locale on the Fundamental Nova waterfront provides a wonderful romantic dinner potential. Other reviewers have given this restaurant excellent reviews and the food when delivered was quite good, although the veal carpaccio appetizer was poorly cooked. However, the service was awful. It appears that our waiter got caught up in dealing with a nearby table and as... More

This was a night of mixed emotions. Despite having received an email confirmation of our booking, they had no record of it when we arrived, then subsequently found it in their book for the following night. No big deal - they found us to a nice table & seated us, taking our drinks order at the same time. Some 45... More

Generally: this is on the north end of the island, so you are looking out at the lagoon and Murano, you're very off the beaten path and far less overrun by tourists. A wonderful respite from the craziness of the Rialto area where we were staying, but only a 10-minute walk. Impeccable friendly service, great food, highly recomended.

Always passed this place on our way into Venice by water taxi. Pre booked by Internet, sat indoors for the a/c. Had the whole place to ourselves due to everyone else wanting an outdoor table over the water. Choose the Terra Mare taster menu (not shown on the website). Food very nice and equally presented, would thoroughly recommend. Usual Venice... More

My husband and I accidentally stumbled on this restaurant while on our honeymoon. We couldn't have been more thrilled about it: Excellent food, fantastic service (we asked the waiter for several recommendations, and he had stellar suggestions every time) and a beautiful atmosphere, both inside the restaurant and out. Would definitely recommend, and we will be visiting again next time... More

We stumbled across this restaurant after a really long and late boat trip. The staff and were very accommodating (despite the timing) and the service was great. It's definitely not cheap but the quality was incredible! Fresh bread, amazing pasta, great oil and every mouthful we ordered was interesting, tasty and well cooked! The setting was beautiful, right on the... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
