Picture yourself seating by the Grand Canal, so close to the water that you can hear the crash of the little waves when the gondolas, boats and vaporetos pass by, then you are in the terrace of this trattoria. Good traditional food, good service, good wine and a great experience by the water.

Trattoria Povoledo is quite a nice place. They stand outside and encourage you to come on in. Inside, though, it's all a bit average. The dishes are ok. The service is quite friendly. But they know you're just passing through. They know that. You know that. Spaghetti dishes were tasty; fish was not bad. Pizza was pretty good. But that's... More

It was our last night in Venice, and we came here after seeing all the reviews and pictures. The view on the terrace is amazing- you dine on the grand canal! But make sure to book ahead if you wish to get a table right next to the river during peak hour! My fish soup(18 euros) was amazing: fresh ingredients,... More

This restaurant has a terrace section just at the side of the canal. That's not enough, the food is superb as well. Would recommend you to order Spaghetty al nero di Sepia (black ink), Spaghetti all vongole veraci, and the well known al Frutti di Mare. Surprisingly when we ate here twice during our first and last day in Venice,... More

This was a real FIND! We were ushered into this restaurant by a man standing outside. We are so glad that we did listen to him. The restaurant is buzzing with HAPPY customers. We were here three years ago, but had no idea that there was outdoor seating. Perhaps that was because it was storming the last time we were... More

We had ordered a spaghetti pasta which was under cooked and not convinced to eat, we also ordered ravioli with white sauce and the same was also pathetic. There was a little hope from the pizza which also failed to satisfy the taste buds and was equally bad!! ICING ON THE CAKE, the staff is rude!! My recommendation, STAY AWAY... More

We were forced to order at least 3 portions of food which we were skeptical to order in the first place. When the food came in, the pasta was half cooked and when complained they say this is how the pasta is. I believe they also have a bias against Indians as they clearly were discriminating. Absolutely pathetic experience of... More

Ate here several times during our stay in Venice. The food was good, the service was excellent. Prices are reasonable by Venice standards. The terrace has a great view of the Grand Canal.

Went here because the restaurant was closest to our hotel and the man out the front guaranteed that they had a fabulous terrace overlooking the grand canal, he wasn't lying! We had house white wine a seafood pasta that was fantastic and a pizza, loved the pasta so much we returned the next night. This time we had the mussels... More

The food is below average, service not professional and if you want my advice: stay away! About the service: As a single lady I had to wait to be served really long time, I had to ask twice for my prosecco and they brought the bill even though I did ask for one!! When I asked for a reason, they... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
