We were enticed in by the front of house staff... Promised great food and good portions. I asked for butter for the dry and crusty bread you pay for in a cover charge, from 3 different waiters. Never received. I ordered the raviollo. It worked...out to 3 euro per piece. Poo service, over priced for what you get. Setting was good though and food wasn't bad, but under delivered overall.More

We wanted to have lunch with a view so chose Povoledo. Fish menu of the day was outstanding food. Spaghetti with calamari and baby tomatoes, penne with gilthead bream and aubergine followed by sea bass with baby carrots and king prawns in a tomato sauce...with polenta Outstanding food, should have asked for a carafe of wine. Fantastic view of the grand canal. A la carte looked outstanding on neighbouring tablesMore

We wanted somewhere with a waterside setting close to our hotel. We chose here as it suited our requirements and had good reviews. Although it's on a main thoroughfare we didn't feel like it was a tourist trap. A genuinely warm welcome, great location and...good food made for a perfect end to a short visit to Venice. My son said that his pasta could have been cooked for a little longer, but to counter that his girlfriend, who is Italian, said her pasta was perfect and was impressed by the amount of lobster in her dish. My steak was cooked perfectly and my wife said her tuna was excellent. Great value in a great location, especially after dark.More

We went here for romantic dinner. We were not disappointed. There is a lovely terrace facing the grand canal. Our waiter Paul was very nice and accommodating . Food was NICE.

The terrace in the back of the restaurant is located directly at one of the main canals in Venice and has the most scenic view, especially when it’s sunny outside. The food was delicious, even though they did not have that many vegan options (I...chose spaghetti al pomodoro in the end, which was very good). The only thing that shocked me was when the waiter emptied the ash trays into the canal. This is not acceptable! This is a health hazard for the fish and animals, humans as well as the environment. I hope they will change their behaviour!More

Hello Sally, Thank You for Your reveiw. I am glad to hear you stayed well, but very sorry about what you saw. In my restaurant it is forbidden to smoke, even outside, and the waiter that empted the ashtray, did it without my permission, cause...More

To start with something good: a warm welcome from the guy in the front. He was not being annoying and helped us where needed. We saw a nice menu and we felt welcome so we decided to go inside to have dinner. The guy from...the door placed us and gave us the menu right away. We ordered a glass of wine and a glass of beer; nothing weird yet. Afterwards we saw that they charged us 7 euros for just a normal Italian draft beer. Our starter arrived, some regular quality parmaham with 4 bricks of Brie. Quality according to what you expect for the money. Main course: The desired Trofie pesto genoveses wasn’t a great surprise. Looked like we ordered pesto soup with over cooked pasta (thick and chewy) floating inside. The amount of the dish was good actually . We also ordered a dish called veal medallions. It wasn’t a medallón and wasn’t even veal, was pork!! Also a very small portion .... the vegetables on the side were nice and the sauce...I’m not going to dare saying that was canned sauce but was just OK. In the beginning the waiter were polite and charming. Till we were having our main course... Apparently they were having a very “important “ staff meeting that had to be hold next to our table with 5 waiters. They were not even trying to be quiet, we were almost done with the diner and gone! To sum up, a very disappointing dinner, we were not expecting the Ritz’s hotel restaurant but they were definitely not meeting our expectations got from the image of the restaurant, the menu outside and a quick look of the restaurant before choosing it. P.S. we still wonder about the 4€ in the bill out of nowhereMore

Worst experience ever. I went there because I was recommended by the hotel where we we staying. But it was such a disappointment. The waiter not not interested in serving. He was just going on talking with his colleague. We had to literally call him...to take our order and then call him to pay. The food was also just okay. Had pizza prosciutto and frittura seafood mix, it was nothing that I would go back to because if service is bad then the enjoyment of the food is also lost.More

This restaurant was across the street from our hotel. On our first visit the doorman took us straight through to the deck, which was on Grand Canal. What a beautiful spot. We had a lovely meal and went back the following night for our anniversary....Another great meal with vvery good service. Recommend highly.More

The food was good. They offered a 3 course meal which I ordered. I had the pasta with clams for my main course. It was good but was a little disappointed with the size of the clams. I am use to the size I get...in the US. It was resonable price wise and the view was amazing.More

My sister and I ate here twice during our recent trip to Venice - once for dinner and once for lunch. Both times we were seated overlooking the Grand Canal - a fabulous location. The food was good and reasonably priced. Service was excellent, and...not rushed even though all the tables were full. Will definitely be back!More

Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district)
with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many
transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying
areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand
for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal
bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution,
2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli
Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby

Yes, they take reservations. Depending upon the time of the evening, you may or may not need them. I suggest asking your hotel to call and make reservations for you. It works better that way
