The place was spectacular and really romantic (Capes Griglia e zucc & Carpaccio mix pesce). The starters was good and the main course excellent (Spaghi frutti mare & tagliatelle granchi e pepe ver). We took a white wine that was pretty nice (Lugana Benedictus). The waiter was really nice to us and we spent a good time.

Can't say enough about the food and service. Strongly recommend the Cuttle Fish and pasta with squid ink. Our waiter made a special effort to make or dinners as romantic as possible!

This restaurant was near our hotel and was rated better than many of its neighbours on trip advisor. The rating lived up to expectations. The food was excellent and the view of the grand canal was great. The most pleasant part was the reasonable bill at the end which by Venetian standards was great. I highly recommend this restaurant, but... More

We walked 12 miles in Venice today, the last five of which were in a mission to find a TripAdvisor recommended restaurant. Finally stumbled upon Povoledo and we were not disappointed! Shared a small pizza as an appetizer and then each had pasta (I know....a very American thing to do in Italy!). I had the lasagna which was a hearty... More

Great views, decent food, but whilst the guys out the front was lovely the waiters didn't want to smile, talk or anything and we had to ask 3 times and wait 55 minutes for the bill let alone anything else. It's a shame because we had a nice meal in a great location but left feeling annoyed rather than anything... More

We chose this restaurant as it was recommended by other visitors in our hotel. It was a super location with a terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. The food was good and not too expensive.

Having eaten in 3 other good restaurants recommended by our hotel (Antiche Figure) we chose this from their list for our final night in Venice, and it was only 5 minutes walk from the hotel. I expected to have to sit inside given the location, then as we arrived we realised they had a terrace - my wife said that... More

Nice place near the canal. The food is nice..especially the fegato alla Venezia .The only bad thing are the plastic chairs, very uncomfortable and if you have some extra weight isn't very safe.Tha staff was very friendly and fast. The prices are ok for Venice.

We were a large group of travelers on a Collette tour. The staff greeted us in English & Italian. After we were seated brought us drinks provided red and white wines along with bread and olive oil. The staff came and took our orders quickly and explained what we didn't understand. Shortly afterward the food began to arrive. The dinners... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
