Our hotel recommended this restaurant and we were not disappointed. We had a nice table on the patio which is right on the Grand Canal - great location. However the tables are very close together making it quite crowded, especially if you have smokers near you. The food was excellent value for our money. The salad was large - big... More

We arrived in Venice, tired & hungry after a 27 hour trip & our Hotel recommended this place for dinner. Well, it was excellent. We sat out on the verandah on the Grand Canal. The waiters were excellent as was the food. We had pizza & pasta & a few drinks. All came to 55 Euros which we thought was... More

This restaurant was recommended by our hotel. It is easy to find- really close to the train station, along the grand canal. I figured it was going to be a tourist trap. Happily, as it turns out, being touristy doesn't mean that the food can't be delicious. Service is friendly and efficient, and the seafood dishes are really tasty. In... More

2 couples ending 2 weeks in Italy. Paul at the front door persuaded us to enter his restaurant and we were not disappointed. He ushered us to the back of the restaurant which overlooks the Grand Canal. The food was excellent with the grilled steak and grilled Sea Bass topping the choices. Victor and Corina were fabulous waiters and gave... More

We were drawn to this restaurant because of the patio area right by the Grand Canal, but the bonus was the fabulous tasting food and excellent attentive waiters. Prices are moderate €6-10 appetiser and €12-20 first and second courses. Good menu selection. Going back tonight.

Out with 2 other couples we found this restaurant near our hotel. We were a bit concerned with the empty tables as we walked in, but the host led us to the back where it was quite full and then out to the patio overlooking the grand canal. Our waiter, Marco, was very accommodating and helped us select appetizers, first... More

The 4 of us were recommended this restaurant by our hotel...and we were all pleased with the location on the Grand Canal.....we were seated next to the water, so an excellent view....my Lasagna (with meat) was the hit of the group....everyone else ordered some type of spaghetti dish...all were happy but all acknowledged my lasagna to be the best entree... We were early enough to be able to get an outdoor table overlooking the Grand Canal. Seemed popular as inside and out was full when we left. The inside is air conditioned. Good choice on the menu. We only had drinks and a main meal each. Prices are a little high but you're in Venice. A medium beer was around... More

We had a great meal at this restaurant. I had the fried shrimp and veggies- superb. My husband had the seabass with veggies - he says his was okay. ( he said my shrimp was a better choice). We were seated right by the canal. servers were attentiv. Meal prices were average for the area, maybe a bit lower. I... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
