very nice outdoor setting in a mostly quiet area. Food was very good. Service was fantastic. We were searching for something smaller than the larger restaurants in more crowded areas and this was perfect.

Being an awkward kind of person, I can't eat lactose so imagine my delight when I discovered Marinara Pizza. Coupled with a bottle of prosecco I was in 7th heaven. The food and service here were great.

The place has a nice, warm feel to it and the staff were really welcoming. Food was tasty and not overpriced, especially for being not too far from Rialto and San Marco (about 10 min walk max)

Very nice pizza's, only a bit disappointed about the desserts... Glasses were dirty, should keep an eye for that. Other than that very good!

We stumbled on the restaurant by accident when trying to find somewhere quite to eat away from the crowds on the Grand Canal. The food was very good, particularly the fillet steaks, but what made the experience was the staff. All where great, very friendly and made suggestions from the menu which were spot on. A great place to eat... More

Nothing too fancy about this place. Food is decent. Service is average. Prices are alright. Fine for a quick dinner.

Beef tartare was below average and was 26€ which wasn't worth it. My partner had a pizza which he said was good. Devoid of atmosphere, no frills restaurant and service without a smile. With so many choices in this city I wouldn't recommend Barabao.

Good pizza, reasonably priced and good location. Waiter service was ok and food arrived in ok time - but nothing special... House red was very cold but it was well priced!

The restaurant is located a few steps from the Ferrovia Train Station - St. Mark's Square route. Thanks to that it's quiet and very welcoming. We ordered a Prosciutto pizza which was of very good quality. We took the Campari Spritz along with the main dish - no complaints here as well. The restaurant specializes in seafood (it's an Osteria),... More

After paying our check the waiter said "service is not included." As this was not our first day or trip to Italy we knew this to be untrue. Clearly a ploy to exploit tourist, which was surprising considering outlet waiter was Russian. It is a shame because the food was not bad.

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
