After having a wonderful day in Venice we simply wanted a pleasant meal. Unfortunately this was not what we got here. Simple pasta dishes made badly and poor service. To top it all I was chastised for asking to have the salad we did not have taken off the bill. Apparently I should have been clearer in want I wanted.... More

Trattoria da Nino does a pretty good gluten free pizza. Nice shady patio near St. Marks, good place for quick lunch and cool drink.

Ran into this place while exploring Venice and found great pasta and pizza. Fresh tomatoes, great local red wine and delicious bellinis. Casual, quick spot for a light lunch.

Very average. Below average pizza and salad. Was its my brother, cousin, his wife and our tribe of 4 kids. Kids are theirs but as parents we were not happy. Will not return

My wife and I ate dinner here one evening as we liked the look of it from the outside. It's a little off the beaten track, so no hustle and bustle and hoardes of tourists (even though we were!). My wife had the Lasagne, which was fabulous, and I had the Tagliatelle with shrimp, garlic & chillies, which was to die... More

Visited with husband and daughter, we all had pizza. My pizza was very hard, like cardboard. I like to cut my own pizza so was pleased this wasn't cut, but the base was very hard and tasteless. I left my pizza. They were accommodating in that they did my daughter a pizza base with just cheese, she said it was... More

Family owned restaurant. Great pizza and a wide selection of dishes on the menu. Prices are good. No smoking is allowed. One thing I noticed about all the restaurants in Venice is that the staff does not pressure you leave. I guess you could sit there all night and talk if you wanted to.

The food in this restaurant is absolutely amazing! I had gluten free carbonara pasta and it was divine. My boyfriend had tortellini which he thoroughly enjoyed! The restaurant is very comfortable and in a lovely place.

We attended for lunch, my daughter, husband and I. We each ordered a pizza but when they came they were just about warm. Mine was rock hard, I couldn't cut into it very well, after a struggle I did managed to cut a piece to eat but it was hard and was like eating cardboard. I couldn't eat any more... More

We are very disappointed to see that many many people require to serve the Pizza already cutted, and when they try to cut it they are not able to use the knife. When Italian people go in a pizzeria NEVER has the pizza cutted from someone else. So what is hard for you it's just a cutting problem. About the... More

We went here for dinner and really enjoyed our night! The gluten free pizzas were really nice and added some extra value to our stay in Venice. Also without the gluten free aspect the restaurant would be a good option, though! Not luxury, but good service and nice atmosphere, not to mention a rich meny. Would go back without doubt!

Staying in Castello

Neighborhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighborhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
