We ate here while on vacation in Venice. The food was very, very good and well prepared. The calamari pasta that I ordered was delicious but very rich. The wine was quite pricey and it seemed cheaper to order a bottle than a glass, so that was a bit annoying... they might want to make glass prices cheaper so people... More

This is a great restaurant next to San Marco. The atmosphere was excellent, the food nice and the wine (a Gaja) was tasty. Of course, coming from Siena we found the experience pricey but that's Venice ! (Getting cheaper is hard around there).

Modern yet friendly. Very knowledgeable staff. Fantastic food. Down a bustling narrow lane, this enoteca offers space, peace and calm with a huge dose of great food and wine. Go!

Friendly staff made Venice seem like a friendly city, refreshing change. Menu was a bit different to all other run of the mill menues available in Venice. The wine choice was amazing but let down by price. The hole experience would of been five star if not for the price.

Average food and average service, in a great location, sums up our experience. Food was ok but nothing to rave about. Service was average. Most (all?) patrons appeared to be tourists. When processing the check on our credit card, the amount processed was slightly higher than the check itself. When pointed out to the waiter, no apology was forthcoming, just... More

I thank all of my guest for their kind and very helpful comments and suggestions even if they are negatives because they see very useful to improve the quality of our restaurant, but i cannot accept deductions that cold be offensive like yours. In a restaurant busy like mine little mistakes can happen sometimes in our favour some other in... More

The area around the Piazza San Marco In Venice is horrendously busy with tourists (we were there June) and overpopulated with very average looking restaurants, but this is a wonderful little restaurant in the back streets just a couple of minutes from the square. We picked it from the Daily Telegraph list of good restaurants in the Venice area (well... More

The concierge at the Westin Europa and Regina recommended this restaurant to us. We were quite impressed and enjoyed the modern spin on traditional Italian food. Try the pea soup with pancetta and a touch of cream. It is a simple recipe elevated, creating one of the best dishes I ate in a week in Italy.

This is a small restaurant within walking distance from Piazza San Marco, It is a modern little place and I would advise to book as all the tables were taken early with people being turned away who had not booked This is a place you will want to spend the night, good food and a wonderful selection of wines (numerous... Small, quiet Osteria near the craziness of San Marco Square. Excellent home made pasta and fresh food. Order the amazing cheese cake with passion fruit. Almost hated to finish it. The gnocchi was light and excellent. Ask for the tall blond, Ane. Big thumbs up. Face the window for fun people watching.

It's not that easy to find good restaurants which offer value for money in this part of Venice. And while I couldn't call the prices cheap, we certainly didn't leave feeling ripped off. I had the rabbit ragu on the first visit, and found it quite salty, but acceptable nevertheless. On our return visit (which was primarily to enjoy the... More

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
