Curious as to why some reviewers had a totally different experience than mine, I began to read the negative reviews, and realized they are not for Trattoria San Basilio that is located directly at the vaporetto stop of the same name. This restaurant does not serve lasagne, so any review mentioning the poor quality lasagne is for a different trattoria.... More

One of the best places we have dined in during our two holiday in Italy. The hospitality from the staff was a stand out, they made you feel welcome and genuinely happy to have you there, which we found rare. Food was excellent as was the house white and red wines, satisfyingly concluded with a limoncello on the house. Great... More

At the far end of the Zattere, this trattoria offers a panoramic view and regional cuisine - served by a charming waiter, or owner ? - at very reasonable prices.

Decided to try this Trattoria and was not disappointed. The wine was lovely and the waiter was extremely helpful. His uncle who owned the restaurant was super friendly and fun to be around. We each started with a pasta which was delicious and generously proportioned. The waiter suggested we eat the bread (which is free) but we didn't want to... More

We loved every moment of our recent evening at the small and cozyTrattoria San Basilio Our group of seven enjoyed a perfect Italian seafood dinner served by Stefano, the owner, and cooked flawlessly by Abbi in her very small kitchen. The entire experience reminded my husband and me of the wonderful home style, off the menu, owner served meals we... More

the staff was very welcoming. We have ordered some soups (1 carrot and one vegetable), both were very good. Then gnochi + lasagna, again good. Right quantities. No bad surprise with the bill. Overall 18 per person, for one soup plus one pasta plate, price including water and coffee.

We came here on a wet day, having tried to go to Osteria 1518, which was inexplicably closed. The owner was friendly and served us quickly. The food was fine, but not the best that we had on our trip to Venice - all the dishes were underseasoned and not as flavourful as we were hoping. It also turned out... More

Recommend - have been going to Trattoria San Basilio for years, every time we are in Venezia. Food and service are great! Located at San Basilio stop - easy to find.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
