We stopped for dinner hoping to do some people watching in the piazza while we ate. The staff was less than enthusiastic and we found the food to be the same way. We order bruschetta which was pretty good but the lasagna and the tortellini were way less than impressive. Once we ordered that staff basically disappeared and we sat... More

We arrived here after dinner, looking for a place where to get a drink before going back to the hotel. At the end we had an affogato and two drinks... and we were very satisfied! Suggested place... and try their icecream !

A nice place slightly away from the usual tourist traps which is reflected in the price. Good gelato and Aperil spritz, and a great location for people watching

Stopped here more than once during our vacation and were not disappointed. Was open later than we had expected and the service was excellent. The pricing is medium to high but the quality and freshness are very good - it is a bit of a "treat" - but well worth it to sit and enjoy your sandwich or gelato /... More

The ice cream is delicious! I only ever eat ice cream in Venice, and I couldn't be staying without a few visits to Paolin, reputed to produce the best ice cream in Venice!

Loved this place. Big gelateria on an awesome square with plenty of outdoor tables, fantastic people watching and good efficient service. The gelato was fantastic. I'm taking one star away because it was SO expensive.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
