Traditional family driven Ristorante with venetian charme and delicious rombo (turbot) dish. Good Italian wines. "Venitian prizes" but reasonable in view of the quality of food. Very recommendable Ristorante in Venice.

After the Carnivale celebrations in San Marco, I followed costumed celebrants to their neighborhoods, then walked until I got lost, and found this restaurant. I was the first person in the restaurant before neighborhood partygoers streamed in. It was fun to watch the owner Stefano prepare the fish dish at a neighboring table. I had a vegetarian dish, and enjoyed... More

Worth trying to find this restaurant. A little off the tourist track, but always good when you see a restaurant is frequented by locals. Worth seeing the owner fillet the sea bass in one of its signature dishes carpaccio di branzino. A very enjoyable meal.

This restaurant is quite well known by the local foodies and regular visitors to this area of Venice. the food is good and has a local flavour. The staff are particularly friendly and helpful. When Stefano prepares the carpaccio of sea bass in the restaurant, it's a bit of theatre. There is some outside seating nearby, along the calle. Note... More

Our hotel gave us a few restaurant recommendations with a description of each. When they said that this restaurant serves excellent seafood and is used a lot by locals but that service wouldnt be rushed (and can be a bit slow) we chose it. I'm very glad we did. As other reviewers have said, you are seated in a small... More

We have dined in many restaurants in Venice and often been underwhelmed - by the food, the price and the indifferent service. This place was different and a real find. We wanted a restaurant close to our hotel and would probably not have even noticed it but searched Trip Advisor for good reviews in the location we wanted. You could... More

We loved this place with a passion. We'd booked on the strength of the Rough Guide recommendation and when we arrived were surprised to find a completely empty restaurant with not a soul in sight. A staff member appeared from the kitchen and indicated the door opposite the one we'd entered by. You had to follow the alleyway to a... More

Venice isn't known for good food in fact it's hard to avoid mediocre tourist places but on our last night we followed a recommendation from our hotel and went to this wonderful ostaria. The tables were set in an outside courtyard and we were relieved to see/hear many locals also eating there. It is an unpretentious eatery serving typical Venezian... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
