After having a horrible experience at a different restaurant in Venice, I was reluctant at first to visit this one. But felt a lot safer since our hotel staff recommended it and had positive reviews. There was a wait for dinner which was about 20 minutes. The mushroom ravioli was cooked to perfection, and I also had the fried calimari... More

You will not select a dish from a menu but you will be given whatever Marisa and her daughter found in that morning. We went on Sunday, and the food was quite a lot. We were able to cut out some courses (which we found later). But I think if you go for a weekday lunch, you will get only... More

Nice little place off the beaten path, almost to the lagoon. They only had a fixed lunch menu so there wasn't much to choose from, but what we had was tasty. Service okay. Friendly waiter. About average on pricing.

Very simple italian trattoria, beloved and frequented by Venetians and locals, definitely has the advantage of being located along a beautiful canal You can eat seated on tables beside admiring the sunset wich is totally gorgeous. Tasty home cooking but nothing excellent, staff not very friendly. Higher prices if you are tourists. You are seated at the same table even... More

It is exactly 12 months since we visited Dalla Marissa. We ate at many restaurants in 8 weeks including some Michelin star restaurants but I find this is the one that we talk about most. We walked in at 7.20 with no booking and were told there was no menu and no wine list. Only house wine. and apologises that... More

Enjoyed an excellent dinning experience at Da Marisa with four friends. We did not have a reservation when we arrived at 12:00PM but they were gracious enough to get us in at 2:00 PM the same day.. The excellent food, along with the cozy atmosphere added to the overall experience. It was a local eating place for sure with the... More

Visited this place over lunch, friend called to book but there were some issues when we arrived but thankfully could get a table in half an hour. Set menu was affordable with one starter pasta, one main dish of meat, wine and coffee also included. The pasta was fantastic, although the meat that I had was slightly bland. Still would... More

We have tried to reach this place twice, at first it was closed and second time we were at a lunch time. Service was terrible, staff members didn't speak in english so we barely understood what they are saying. We got our first dish very soon, but afterwards we were sitting outside with an empty plates for about 50 minutes.... More

We stumbled upon this restaurant by chance at lunchtime today. The canal side tables were full, as were those inside the small restaurant. It looked a good little authentically Italian restaurant so we waited and before long were given a table outside in the November sunshine. It was delightful sitting by the water watching a working canal with local people... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
