We had a very good meal here 5 days ago.The service was excellent and the staff very friendly even though the restaurant was very busy. Our starters were well prepared and absolutely delicious, the main course was not quite so inspiring but tasty all the same. The restaurant is quite small so there's not much space between the tables. We... More

Suggested by a friend and did not disappoint. Very popular place although it is not cheap. Next table told us that he had made the reservation weeks before he came when we were lucky enough just to be waved right in. Everything is divine so bring appetite .

Despite what an earlier review said, we did actually stumble across this place on a map-less wander around the back streets of Venice. A quick Trip Advisor search reassured us it was worth going inside and we were not disappointed! Great seafood - my husband's deep fried fish selection was spectacular and my John Dory was fresh and tasty. Service... More

Was a little hesitant about this place because it was listed in a guide book, and at the top of the Google Maps restaurant list. We went anyway, and the food was great! Had the dialy special, grilled monk fish that was wonderful! Make a reservation early, we called the day before, and they had none available before 9:30pm. Great... More

Good fresh food but there was nothing special about it. Very expensive food. Didn't enjoy the desert.

This restaurant was really good some years ago. In the meantime they increased prices drastically and reduced portion size and quality dramatically. Pity. Service is rude to foreigners.

This is a nice fish restaurant in Venice, difficult to find though. The fish was really good but the menue is overpriced.

I made a reservation on January 24th, 2017 for dinner on March 3, 2017, which was confirmed. I specifically remember the details of the reservation as 1) the restaurant was closed for vacation through Jan 23, so I waited until the 24th and 2) I asked for an 8pm reservation and was told the first seating starts at 7:30. So... More

Whilst in Venice we just had to eat in at least one restaurant that Rick Stein had enjoyed visiting. We booked here in advance and given how full at was when we went, that is probably essential advice. It is an intimate restaurant full of charm and character, located in a quiet ‘back alley’ area of Venice and so might... More

We visited Antiche Carampane on the recommendation of the hotel we were staying (Palazzo Venart) and we were not disappointed. We were made to feel very welcome and the service was quick and easy despite being busy mostly with what appeared to be locals, always a good sign. Happy to recommend if you like seafood.

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
