We sat by the water watching boats and the sunset while being bought lovely food and drink. These people are passionate about their food and get the details right. After an aperitif we had a scallop, tomato and avocado starter, a great medley of flavors and textures. The sashimi starter had 8 different fish with 8 flavours. Then we had... More

Read all the reviews before booking our table and it certainly lived up to all our expectations. We ate here on our last night in Venice and - what a last night! Our table was right next to the Canal - and the view and atmosphere, especially at sunset was absolutely brilliant. The welcome and attention of the waiters was second... More

We had an absolutely wonderful dinner at Riviera. The starter raw fish tasting plate was nicely presented and delicious and so was the homemade ravioli. The cheese course was a selection of various Asiago cheeses all aged differently. The dessert sampler was also fabulous. The service was excellent and the owner stopped by twice to check on us. Superb dining... More

This was an incredible meal on the last stop of our honeymoon. The view is spectacular with great boat watching and people watching. It's on a major waterway so it's more unique than the rest of Venice. The owner GP was so kind and hospitable and Serena and Manuel provided great service. Food was delicious from start to finish and... More

This restaurant was chosen by my fiancé for our engagement in Venice. From the moment we enquired about the reservation we had personal communication via email with the owner of the hotel who went out of his way to ensure we had a perfect evening. My mother also contacted the restaurant from the UK & arranged to pay for and... More

Plus; Location Staff Wines Food Improvement options (though limited); Only 1 amuse, could be more. The fish of the day was very fresh, but a little bit boring. Only some fried vegetables and olive oil came with it. All the other dishes were very nice and sometimes experimental and full of flavours, so I was a bit dissapointed. Taste was... More

Originally we picked this restaurant because it had good reviews AND is open on Sunday. Many of the finer Venetian restaurants are closed on Sundays. We were a bit hesitant because it seems distant from Piazza San Marco where we were staying, but the vaperetto trip was fully worth it! We had a 7 pm reservation, and tables were set... More

We appreciated being welcomed by the owner; the location overlooks a main canal next to Venice - to have a very large cruise liner pass by our table on the promenade at circa 22.00 was entertaining. The owner came over again as we left to wish us goodnight. Cost 75 Euros per person. Highly memorable for all the right reasons.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
