We read the amazing reviews and booked a table a few weeks in advance of our trip (by the way, we had a response to our email within minutes - on a Sunday! - and it was helpful and kind.) It was our honeymoon, so we went for the 7 course tasting menu with accompanying wines. Firstly - THE SETTING,... More

It may sound silly to describe a Venetian dinner as having waterside wonder but this meal had it all.... Firstly hosted directly by the owner whose eclectic style and charm was so wonderfully engaging. We had a waters edge table for two - and as the sun set the magic began in the stunning sunlight over the water. The fish... More

I celebrated my 30th birthday here with my boyfriend and it certainly was memorable! We got a table right on the waterfront which made it very special and were welcomed by the owner of the restaurant who kept checking in on the guests throughout the night which was a lovely touch. The service from start to finish was excellent and... More

Genuine hospitable friendly and amazing owner and service throughout. Top notch food -- would've got 5 stars except the first appetizer of fish sampling i feel was good but didn't warrant the 5th star. Regardless definitely worth a visit if you're in central Venice!

Came here with my wife for dinner. This was recommended by our hotel's concierge which was able to book us a reservation. Try to book a table a head of time on the outside which allows you to have a million dollar view. Prices were on the high side but the quality of food and the service was second to... More

We came here for a special dinner on our trip (wedding anniversary), and were very pleased! It lived up to all the positive reviews and comments and the outdoor seating and view across the water surpassed them! Food was excellent quality and for a slightly more 'expensive' place the portions were very generous. Wine was well priced too (note they... More

The food, views and service at this restaurant made for a very special special occasion meal. The menu was a modern take on classic Italian with small, perfectly formed courses. The staff were attentive but not overly so, they were quite happy to let us sit watching the world go by without bothering us. The owner made an effort to... More

We went here for our special dinner our last night in Italy. It lived up to all my expectations. I actually like the comments made back by the owner on tripadvisor and I believe them all. As long as you show up on time, it will be a terrific experience. We sat waterside and had the tasting menu with wine... More

We arrived without a reservation and put our names in with only an hour wait or so. Once we were sat out purses were hung and we were met by the owner. The staff was exceptional and it was the best meal I ate in Italy. I enjoyed the lamb chop and all of our meals were wonderful. Appetizers, wine,... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
