We had a lovely dinner for my birthday at Riviera. The restaurant is located by the water on the Giudecca Canal with a great view on the Hilton and the rest of the canal. We received a warm welcome from the owner of the restaurant who was really happy to share his passion for wine with us. The food was... More

We returned to Riviera for my husband's birthday and it was just as good as the first time (last year). The owner is committed to the local produce, his knowledge of food sourcing around the area is extraordinary. The waiters were professional and the food excellent. If you come a bit earlier than dinner time(for which you have to book),... More

My husband, mother, and I visited in early July 2016 and have not stopped talking about our visit since. Riviera is away from the hustle and bustle of San Marco in Dorsoduro which is a lovely respite, but it certainly is not out of the way. We were fortunate to have a table right by the water where we watched... More

It is always a pleasure to eat here. Riviera combines excellent food, a relaxed atmosphere, attentive and friendly service and splendid views to give an outstanding dining experience. This year we celebrated our wedding anniversary at ‘Riviera’ as well as enjoying a second meal with both being the highlights of our holiday. The salt baked sea bass was a lovely... More

Even though we only got to enjoy the view for 10 minutes and then the weather took over, we had an exceptional dining experience. Lovely fine dining with food presentation at its best. Thank you to the restaurant for helping celebrate my fiancé's birthday.

My wife and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and the meal and service were simply outstanding. A special mention to the owner for his very genuine welcome and to the serving staff for their professional attentiveness throughout. A very happy memory of Venice!

Venice is the type of place where you want to head away from the tourist type venues and go authentic. If that is what you are after, please visit this restaurant. Myself and a friend were recommended this place by a family member and it did not disappoint, we were sure to make a reservation also. I can only describe... More

Riviera, on the water across from Molino was a more peaceful option for outdoor dining as the area is somewhat less trafficked. The recommended aperitif is their foamy Bellini. This was followed by a watermelon gazpacho bouche. The recommended wine was Fon from Slovenia; an excellent selection. The entree, homemade papadella with prawns and mushrooms had a simple but sophisticated... More

This is one of the most beautiful and delicious restaurants we have ever dined at. We went for my birthday and as a surprise my boyfriend had requested flowers and prosecco to be placed at the table beforehand which was presented beautifully. The service is amazing and the owner such a genuine and lovely man. We couldn't recommend it enough!... More

The service and location are fantastic, you can book a table waterside and watch the sunset. The handmade ravioli with langoustines was absolutely terrific, light as a feather, the best ravioli I have ever had! The finishing touches were worth the money, the manager / owner presented us with a wine opener at the end to take home as a... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
