This dinner was hands down the best we had in Venice and one of the best dinners we have had ever. We travel and love to eat in the North End of Boston and in Little Italy in NYC, and this restaurant can teach them a thing or two! Eat here as your special dinner and get the chefs choice... More

Great restaurant directly opposite where we stayed in Venice. The owner meets and greets his clientele and genuinely cares about everyone enjoying his food and hospitality. Modern take and classic food and it's done very well. Very highly recommended.

This is one of the more fancy restaurants in Venice I presume. Lying in the south of Venice with one hell of a view. The restaurant opens at 7PM so there is only time for one visit per table. The prices was a bit high, even most of the starters were more expensive than the main courses. Think all of... More

Hello Markus from Norway! I’ll answer by points, directly to some of your phrases: “This is one of the more fancy restaurants in Venice I presume.” You presume wrong: is a simple Restaurant but with Real Products, as some others Reviewers had the possibility to realise and write. It is not “fancy” at all, but simply respectful of anyone... More

Amazing location and views from the water's edge where we were seated. Food was fantastic and the service is 5 star. Attentive and exacting service but subtle at the same time. The best food we had in Venice and the tirmasu is highly recommended. If you want a special dinner visit here.

What more can we say, the food, the service and the setting are second to none. We have visited many 5* restaurants and overall we can say that the Riviera is the best we have ever experienced. From the start of the evening to the very end the food and service received from all members of staff was impeccable. The... More

My friend and I were getting into town for the Redentore and many restaurants in Dorsoduro were closing. GP (the owner) and his team not only made space for us, but served us our best meal in Venice and were extremely friendly and welcoming. We were able to try different wines (including one from Josko Gravner!) and hear at length... More

we had dinner at Riviera on a summer night. While the view from the restaurant is unbeatable, the menu is absolutely stunning. We choose all dishes based on the seafood (all locally sourced) and we totally enjoyed them. Excellent presentation and world class preparation provided with exquisite service. The wine list is in line with the menu and the location,... More

Setting, food and service all outstanding. We went to Riviera for our final lunch before flying home after four days in Venice and it was our best dining experience in the city. The food was excellent and the staff managed to get a perfect balance between friendliness, attentiveness and efficiency. Will be top of our list when we return.

I can't begin to express just how great this restaurant is. From the owner who is friendly and welcoming but not at all intrusive, to the staff that is among the best I have encountered anywhere. Quite apart from the excellent service, the food was superb and would delight any foodie especial if you enjoy seafood. The portions were not... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighborhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighborhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighborhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbors exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
