I visited for drinks and tapas one evening. Excellent location, price and such a great atmosphere! Sat outside by the water drinking great wine and eating delicious tapas. Really wish we ate here.

This was our last night in Venice and our tour guide Simona had recommended "Al Timon." Wow.......what a recommendation!!!!!! We have had steak all over the world and this has to be one of the best!!! Lots of locals eating which is a very good sign, no English menus and some really lovely waiters that gave impeccable service!!!! A great... More

We've been to this restaurant for a lovely dinner. The food is great, the meat was cooked perfectly! Although we were sat by the door and constantly on the cold, we loved our experience.

WOW, no words to describe how good this place is. Stumbled across this place returning from St Marks Sq to our hotel. Place was closed but they took our reservation. Ordered T bone steak platter to share, cooked to perfection, (a piece of meat that size takes some skill to cook to that standard). We've had steak all over the... More

We came here after a recommendation from our hotel. We were not disappointed! The small restaurant was full of locals enjoying a spritz and tapas. We had come for the steak and went with the T bone option. This huge piece of meat (medium rare) came with a generous portion of grilled veg and potato wedges. All were delicious. With... More

We visited Venice during Carnevale and were desperate to find a more local restaurant without the tourists. We landed at Timon where we had a spectacular time. You can order cicchetti at the bar and sit down anywhere before dinner begins. You're encouraged to share space with others as it is often filled with locals. We loved the food and... More

Very busy and not much room so may need to share a table, however try to embrace this as we shared with the locals and had a great time, we don't talk the lingo but have never felt so welcome even back home. The food was beautiful and plentiful, this is the restaurant to go if you love steak, cooked... More

I cannot recommend this place enough. It's off the beaten path but well worth a visit. It's a great restaurant and bar to mix with the locals. They serve mostly meat dishes, which is a rare find in Venice where you are surrounded by seafood and Italian. There is inside and outside seating. Do book reservations for dinner in advance.... really good t bone steak at this restaurant, very busy on the night tbough and more of a delay than we were happy with dispite a reservation made days earlier but it was certainly worth the wait when it arrived. It was succulent and beautifully seasoned and came with a good selection of veg .At 92 euros with a nice... More

A very busy bar/eatery but worth waiting to get in. Was advised to get the T'bone steak to share between 2 and that's been the best recommendation I have had!! The steak was a wonderful slab of meat and the potatoes/vegetables were seasoned perfectly. You pay per weight so ours was £62.50 and worth every single penny......horse meat is very... More

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighborhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighborhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
