Our walking tour guide pointed this restaurant out as one of his favorites on our first day in Venice. It was closed (a Sunday) and so we called and booked lunch for the next day. If you would like to be sure of a table definitely book. So man people were turned away as we were eating! The food was... More

Food was really delicious. there was a mix up with my husbands order with him receiving the wrong starter and his starter order as main. Other than that the service was polite and professional. Would return.

What a disappointment! I researched restaurants for our Valentine's night meal for hours before we came to Venice. I chose this restaurant because I am vegetarian and it had extremely good reviews. I even booked it from England to ensure we got a table. As mentioned in previous reviews, the waitress hardly cracked a smile from beginning to end. She... More

Although it's not a vegetarian restaurant the choice you have makes it an excellent choice. It's also in a very nice relaxed neighborhood. The service is very good and nice people.

Oh dear good food spoiled by waitress with attitude. Could it have been because I asked for a menu in English when they didn't have one. Struggled with the memory game of having the menu read out to me quickly then trying to remember everything on there by the time I got to the end! Because I couldn't not remember... More

In advance of our trip I was trying to find somewhere that was highly rated and would cater to a slightly fussy mix of people (I dislike seafood, my wife is not a huge fan of pizza and pasta and another in the group doesn't eat red meat - I know, we're hard work!!). On arrival we were all a... More

I reviewed this restaurant on TripAdvisor back in 2013. Since then I've been back several times. It has always been very good but this year everything was spot on. Service from both the long serving guy and the equally lovely woman was very good - friendly, interested and gently witty but still good at moving things along in an unforced... More

We had dinner at La Zucca. Food was excellent: artichokes, mushrooms with ricotta, raddigio, tripes, pasta with gorgonzola and pears, semifreddo. Glasses of white and red wines were above average. We paid 35 euros per person. This was our best dinner in Venice (and we tried other similar priced restaurants!).

There were a number of meaty main courses but I didn't notice any sea food on the menu. Our Italian is limited so we may have missed a salad which I would have preferred to the rather soggy artichokes we chose to accompany an excellent tagliatelle with gorgonzola and pears and a pumpkin 'flan'. The reasonably priced house red was... More

Staying in San Polo

Neighborhood Profile
San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi) stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San Polo is defined by churches including Basilica dei Frari, one of the most important churches sought by art lovers.
