Cantina Do Spade

Ratings and reviews

#144 of 1,336 Restaurants in Venice
Certificate of Excellence2015 - 2019 Winner

Location and contact

One of the most ancient Venetian osterie, the Cantina Do Spade is only a few steps away from the Rialto Bridge. This bacaro offers a variety of cicheti: small typically Venetian snacks like fried squid rings, meatballs, mozzarelle in carrozza, baccala mantecato etc. Here our friendly staff and atmosphere will make you feel at home, but with the opportunity to taste fine and fresh food.

Another excellent spot for cicchetti in Venice. It's small but worth it for a stop by. They had a variety of tapas, I liked the fried mozzarella the best. They had a nice selection of wines, paired perfectly with the cicchetti!

Great, very old Cantina in a side street not far from the Rialto Bridge. You can squeeze in for a drink and a Cicchetta (Venetian snack), which I did with my friend - a beer and fried squid, which was excellent. However, this Cantina has...More

Truly a gem—MUST TRY!! Thankfully, this restaurant reminded us that Venice doesn’t have to be known as the city of “tourist menus” and horrid food. Great food, service and price, but book ahead as it’s full typically the day of. I’ve been to Venice twice...More

We’ve been here before to hang out at the bar and devour the delicious munchies, but this was our first time for dinner (reservations a good idea). The food was great - flavorful, plentiful and hot! The staff are super friendly, despite running in ten...More

San Polo
The Rialto Bridge is the most famous sight along the
Grand Canal in San Polo, smallest of Venice's six
sestieri (districts) and by far the busiest
neighborhood. Morning Venetians arrive to peruse the
markets for fish, fruit and vegetables, while shops
display goods from cheese to wine to desserts. San
Silvestro and Rialto Market vaporetto (water taxi)
stops add to the steady stream of foot traffic. San
