This restaurant was recommended by our hotel with advantage of being nearby. What a great choice. We were welcomed, seated immediately. We got the pasta with squid ink, which was exquisite. The sea bass was excellent. The stuffed cuttlefish was good if you like tomato...More

We went to this restaurant on a quiet December evening and were treated to a classic selection of Italian dishes, wine and cheese. It is a little way off the main tourist routes, but well worth a visit. The advice regarding menu choices was excellent,...More

We almost missed this restaurant - our phones died earlier in the day and navigating the city after dark can be a challenge. However we pressed on, and after a few U turns and dark alleys found this charming restaurant. Its a slice out of...More

We had lunch here in passing and it was so good we booked to come back to dinner. The food is traditional and carefully cooked. The service is stately - you aren't rushed, but they keep an eye on you in case you need things....More

We were recommended this restaurant for dinner by our hotel. Food was good but I feel that it was quite expensive for what it was compared to other restaurants we went to during our stay. One starter, two mains, a water and a coke came...More

Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district)
when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring
cars and buses close to the center of Venice.
Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking
Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes
with energy from travelers and students. Historic
palaces and former industrial buildings house some
departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture

The restaurant is located in Salizzada Ca’ Zusto, between Campo San Giacomo dell’Orio and Campo Nazario Sauro in a very privileged position in the hidden Venice, away from the throngs of tourists yet conveniently close to the centre. The outside seating area is characterized by a plant of vines which embraces the entire facade, creating a pergola which provides welcome shade during the summer heat spells. On the side of the restaurant is one of the narrowest calli (Venetian street or alley) in Venice: two persons cannot walk in it side by side! The trattoria’s inside decor is warm and inviting: two inside rooms, for a total of 50 seats, with furnishings from the late 19th century, including marble tables, graceful sideboards and glass cases, original thonet chairs, and a collection of paintings by well-known artists which embellish the walls. That alone would be enough to attract connoisseurs in search of a special place to have a meal! But, most importantly, the Antica Besseta provides an excellent cuisine which is halfway between the discovery of traditions and the search of new sensations.
