Received a tip to this restaurant in Brera. It is very popular with locals. It is a long time family restaurant with excellent wine list, superb local dishes and excellent service. Hard to match this local favourite. Went twice in 3 days.

I have been more than once there, but the menu is always the same.Trustworthy, Typical milanese, serious. It's a bit expensive for what they offer, but in general its nice to go there especially for the area Brera and the alure of it.

Wonderful atmosphere, amazing food. A great place to try the local Milanese specialities. The owner is also the most fabulous man who has great stories to tell.

I heard about this restaurant from a local I met on the airplane over. Trying to find it on Google, I nearly walked past it without realizing it. It's a very small (15 tables?), non-descript place on the outside. Only when I saw "La Libera" on the door handle did I know I had found it. Inside was a lovely,... More

Characteristic restaurant offering dishes from the Milanese traditional cuisine. Venue located in the Garibladi area with welcoming, warm environment. Hall setup can result a little crowded (table are pretty close to each other). As mentioned, the menu includes many Milanese traditional dishes, cooked and presented with care. Service speed is average, prices in line with the location.

A fine ambience will receive you in this restaurant. Food is well presented and the ingredients' quality is good. Preparation needs some improvement. Suggestions: - dessert with chestnut - artichoke with mozzarella. A defect: the external leaves of the artichoke are too tough.

It is incomprehensible why this restaurant is so busy. Clearly, the clientele haven't got a clue. Being foodies and regular visitors to Italy, we advise that this restaurant is not worth a visit. The figs in our antipasti were squashed and bruised. The Cotoletta alla Milanese was thin and tasted purely of breadcrumbs fried in butter. The Zabaglione in the... More

Passion does make a difference... That is what I felt at La Libera. The stylish owner was not there to watch only, but to serve with his passion, that you can feel and make sure that the guests were happy! Cotoletta was perfect and the ice cream was absolutely superb ending. Will sure visit again.

Staying in Brera

Neighborhood Profile
Brera captures the real essence of the city. It is an excellent mix between history and modernity, where tradition meets innovation. Here design and beauty reign. On Via Brera there are the famous Pinacoteca (galleries), the National Gallery of Modern and Antique Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Interior design boutiques and intellectual cafes are typical of the district. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. On Sundays, going to the local market is an unmissable opportunity for fashion, style and art. Tucked away, there is the Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden that seems like a painting framed in an ancient fairy structure. Last but not least, it’s worth a visit to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli with its Planetarium, the Civico Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum).
